The Mold Technician is responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing injection molds and related equipment. This role collaborates closely with Toolmakers and Tooling Engineer to perform mold maintenance, repairs, fabricate mold components and spare parts, implement engineering changes, and support continuous improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate is a proactive, detail-oriented professional with strong problem-solving skills who can perform at a high level with minimal supervision while contributing to overall quality, productivity, and equipment reliability.
Responsibilities
Execute mold maintenance and repair plans assigned by the shift lead or supervisor. Analyze molding and tooling issues, recommend corrective actions, and implement modifications to improve product quality, mold performance, and manufacturing efficiency.
Diagnose and troubleshoot molds, hot runner systems, and related tooling to maximize mold life and improved performance. Interpret engineering drawings and design specifications to perform mold repairs.
Ensure assigned work orders are completed accurately and on schedule. Provide daily progress updates, review tasks, and communicate follow-up actions and recommendations to ensure timely completion of outstanding work.
Support the development and continuous improvement of production standards and best practices.
Comply with all company safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements. Promote a safe work environment by identifying and reporting unsafe conditions, following established safety procedures, and maintaining a clean and organized work area.
Consistently maintain workplace organization and cleanliness by adhering to 5S principles and established housekeeping standards.
Participate in training, courses, seminars, and other development opportunities assigned or approved as part of the employee''s professional development plan.
Qualifications
Technical training and/or relevant experience in machining, mold maintenance, or related manufacturing disciplines.
Working knowledge of conventional machine equipment, including drill presses, milling machines, and lathes.
Ability to read, interpret, and work from mechanical, tooling, and engineering drawings.
Strong commitment to collaboration, and teamwork.
Effective problem-solving skills with attention to detail and quality workmanship.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
3-5 years tooling maintenance experience.
2-Year technology or industrial related degree/certification.
Computer skills in office software, SolidWorks, Mastercam.
