Mold Toolroom Repair and Preventive Maintenance Specialist

Where: Rochester Hills, Michigan
Role type: Contract-to-Hire
Shift: Third Shift, 11:00pm–7:00am (training on First Shift, 7:00am–3:00pm, for several weeks)
Pay: Approximately $25.00+ per hour, commensurate with proven work history

Be the go-to expert who keeps precision injection molds production-ready through meticulous preventive maintenance and timely repairs.

What you will do

• Read tooling work orders and execute tasks accurately
• Safely disassemble/assemble molds to meet schedules and minimize downtime
• Clean molds; polish, bench, fit new details, and spot in as required
• Operate a surface grinder to +/- 0.0002 and a Bridgeport/lathe to +/- 0.001
• Run EDM equipment and verify work with micrometers, calipers, height gages, and bore micrometers
• Troubleshoot with Process Engineers; correct issues with tools in press on the production floor
• Support component inventory monitoring and maintain accurate maintenance records in the company system
• Keep a clean, well-organized work area; maintain tools and perform daily machinery cleaning
• Work independently with clear direction; assist Maintenance Technicians as needed
• Apply knowledge of manifold systems (Mold Master, Senventive, Osco, etc.) and hydraulics

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• 5+ years of hands-on tool room experience focused on plastic injection mold repair/maintenance
• 3+ years with hand-operated tool room machinery
• Knowledge of mold/die components and characteristics
• Ability to interpret tooling work orders; strong verbal and written communication
• Basic computer proficiency
• Prototype tool making experience (helpful)
• Plastic injection processing experience (highly desired)
• Trade school or some college (preferred)

Physical demands and safety

• Lift up to 55 pounds
• Frequent walking, bending, standing, climbing, and lifting
• Perform high-accuracy visual tool inspections
• Operate machines/equipment safely and efficiently
