MongoDB Database Administrator - 3633168

Lighthouse Technology Services is partnering with our client to fill their MongoDB Database Administrator position! This is a 12-18 month contract hybrid in Buffalo, NY. This role will be a W2 employee of Lighthouse Technology Services. No C2C or subcontracting arrangements will be considered.

What You'll Be Doing:

• Lead MongoDB database administration and optimization for enterprise production environments hosted in Microsoft Azure, serving as the primary subject matter expert for architecture, performance, and operational support
• Design and maintain highly available, scalable, and secure MongoDB architectures utilizing Atlas, replica sets, and sharding strategies to support business-critical applications
• Drive performance optimization initiatives through strategic indexing, query tuning, resource management, and capacity planning to ensure optimal database efficiency
• Execute database lifecycle management activities including upgrades, migrations, patching, backup/recovery operations, and disaster recovery implementations
• Collaborate with development teams building Java and Spring Boot applications to support database integration for microservices and API-based solutions
• Partner with DevOps teams to support CI/CD pipeline implementations, automating database deployments, schema changes, and release management activities
• Establish and maintain comprehensive monitoring, alerting, and operational standards for MongoDB platforms to proactively identify and resolve issues
• Ensure compliance with security, audit, and regulatory requirements through implementation of robust authentication, authorization, and data protection measures
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex database performance and availability issues in production environments, providing expert-level technical support

What You'll Need to Have:

• 8+ years of Database Administration experience with 5+ years of hands-on MongoDB Administration expertise in production environments
• Strong proficiency with MongoDB Atlas, replica sets, sharding, performance tuning, query optimization, and high availability/disaster recovery implementations
• Proven experience managing MongoDB workloads on Microsoft Azure cloud platform
• 4+ years of experience with Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, and microservices architecture to effectively collaborate with development teams
• Solid experience with CI/CD tools and practices including Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, and Git for automated deployment workflows
• Demonstrated ability to perform backup/recovery operations, capacity planning, and implement security/authentication frameworks for enterprise database environments
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and scripting/automation using Shell or Python (preferred)
• Banking or financial services industry experience (preferred)

Pay Range: $70-$75/hr
