Job Summary and Qualifications The Telemetry Monitor Tech assists the nursing staff by continuously monitoring cardiac rhythms and performing various patient care activities as related to cardiac telemetry monitoring. Detect and document arrhythmias and notifies the nursing staff as needed.
What you do in this role: • Assists the nurse by continually assessing the patients cardiac rhythm rate and any significant changes in these, documenting strips every shift and with any changes. • Patient care activities are coordinated through collaboration and planning with other members of the health care team. • Able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care based on physical, psychosocial, educational, safety, and related criteria appropriate to the following age groups: adolescent, adult, geriatric. • Assignments are carried out accurately and efficiently and clarified when necessary. • Applies transmitters to newly admitted patients with telemetry order. • Demonstrates ability to effectively troubleshoot and identify problems with equipment that are reportable to GE and Bio Med. • Completes quality audits as assigned accurately and timely. • Retrieves telemetry transmitter when patients are discharged. • Answers telephone promptly with proper identification and relays all information appropriately, accurately, and professionally. • Refers calls regarding patient status to the nurse responsible for the delivery of care. • Takes no phone orders from physicians or Allied Health professionals. • Transfers these requests and/or calls to the RN. • Visually and audibly monitors and analyzes patients cardiac rhythm. • Accurately identifies basic cardiac rhythm and any dysrhythmias. • Immediately reports all significant changes to the patients nurse or charge nurse. • Maintains accurate and current records of telemetry patients. • Documents patients rhythm strip at the beginning of the shift and any changes that occur. • Sends original strips to appropriate unit at least every 24 hours if appropriate. • Achieves state goals related to job performance. • Assume responsibility and accountability for the economical and safe utilization of telemetry supplies and ensures that discontinued equipment is removed, cleaned properly, and placed in designated area.
Qualifications Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
