PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • In this important leadership role, the MVP Academy Director will foster a positive school climate, manage student behavior, and act as the primary connection between students, faculty, and administration to promote student success and well-being.
  • Enforce the student code of conduct, handle disciplinary procedures, and implement restorative or mediation practices, as needed.
  • Ensure that proper emotional and mental health supports are in place for the student body, and act as a resource for at-risk students or those in crisis.
  • Working closely with the MVP Program Administrator, instructors and staff, the Director will coordinate extracurricular activities, clubs, orientations, and student leadership programs to build community.
  • In collaboration with the MVP Program Administrator, sending district administrators, instructors, and staff, the Director will develop institutional policies, track attendance, and prepare statistical reports to evaluate student needs.
  • Collaborate with industry partners and area employers to schedule visits in order to foster a partnership that enhances the student's work experience while addressing the employer's workforce needs.
  • Collaborates with the district's Development Coordinator and Community Outreach Specialist to design and implement MVP Academy print and web communications, including various publications, brochures, fliers, posters, advertisements, social media graphics, web advertisements, and photographs, etc.
  • Create and provide updates to the program's associated social media sites in order to ensure images are attractive, reflective of current events, and highlight the student population.
  • Ensures constant branding throughout all communications and adheres to the branding guidelines set in place.
  • Publicize and help organize Academy events including (but not limited to) Employer Guest Speakers, Job Fairs, on-site interview opportunities, chamber business tours, etc. to benefit participating students.
  • Take and maintain a library of high-quality images, used to promote the school.
  • Correspond daily with sending school district officials and representatives regarding attendance, transportation, and any behavioral or health-related issues that may arise.
  • Work closely with MVP instructional staff to input purchase requisitions, track MVP staff attendance, and receive and distribute mail/packages in a timely manner.
  • Assist with the orderly arrival and dismissal of students, the delivery and distribution of school lunches, and the maintenance of a presentable and welcoming student common area and reception area, with daily maintenance and cleaning as needed.
  • All other duties assigned by the Superintendent-Director or the Director of Vocational Programs.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: This position may require prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. The employee must be able to lift 15-20 pounds at times and will be required to keep the student lounge area/dining area clean, wipe down tables, and take out trash as needed.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Ten-month school year position plus ten days (193 days). Initial salary will be established by the Superintendent-Director in accordance with the non-union personnel policy. Fringe benefits as outlined in the non-union personnel policy.

EVALUATION: In accordance with the School Committee Policy.
