Options Virtual Charter School is seeking a caring, dependable, and enthusiastic Montessori Guide Assistant to support our 4K/5K Hybrid Montessori Program. The Guide Assistant will work closely with the Montessori Guide and 4K/5K Lead Teacher to create a welcoming, organized, and engaging learning environment where young children can develop independence, confidence, and a love of learning.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with young children and is passionate about creating a positive, nurturing classroom environment. The Guide Assistant will provide hands-on support to students and the Montessori Guide while helping with classroom preparation, materials, transitions, lunch supervision, and daily classroom routines.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist the Montessori Guide in supporting students throughout the school day.
- Work directly with individual students and small groups as directed by the Montessori Guide.
- Help students navigate classroom routines, transitions, and activities.
- Support students in developing independence and responsibility.
- Prepare, organize, clean, and maintain Montessori classroom materials.
- Assist with setting up and preparing the classroom environment before students arrive.
- Help maintain a clean, organized, and inviting learning environment throughout the morning.
- Assist the Montessori Guide with classroom activities and student needs.
- Provide supervision and support during lunch and other non-classroom activities.
- Help students with age-appropriate self-care and daily routines when needed.
- Assist with arrival, dismissal, and transitions as needed.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with the Montessori Guide and school staff.
- Follow school policies, procedures, and expectations for student safety and supervision.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding students and families.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Montessori Guide or school administration.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
- Experience working with young children in a paid position and under supervision.
- A genuine interest in working with children ages 4-6.
- Ability to work collaboratively and positively with the Montessori Guide and school staff.
- Dependable, punctual, patient, and responsible.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to create positive relationships with young children.
- Ability to follow directions and take initiative when appropriate.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe, respectful, and welcoming classroom environment.
Preferred:
- Previous experience working in a Montessori classroom or Montessori program.
- Experience working with preschool or kindergarten-aged children.
- Familiarity with Montessori philosophy, materials, and classroom practices.
- Early childhood education coursework, certification, or training.
- Experience supporting students with a variety of learning styles and needs.

This position follows the school calendar and the 4K/5K Hybrid Montessori Program schedule.
