Hours/Status: Part-time, 8 hours per week, 235-day year
Summary:
This role contributes to our mission of transforming education by creating learning environments that inspire and nurture children from all cultural and economic backgrounds. We strive to be a compassionate, dynamic learning community that demonstrates integrity, respect, and sustainability, guided by Montessori principles. The Montessori Mentor and Coach will implement coaching using Practice Based Coaching and Montessori mentoring for Parent Educators. Provide short term and long-range planning for service delivery and training. Ensure that Federal Head Start Performance Standards are met.
Responsibilities:
Montessori Mentor and Coach
Observe PE home visits to determine progress, including areas of strength and areas of growth -at least annually.
Consult with Program and Disabilities Manager to ensure that coaching recommendations are followed.
Consult with PEs' supervisors and Montessori Mentor to ensure that coaching recommendations are followed.
Complete the Practice Based Coaching (PBC) training.
Complete the PBC Assessment with each PE, in collaboration with Montessori Mentor.
Determine from assessment which area(s) of child development the PE needs additional coaching.
Provide coaching individually and/or in like groups (i.e., language development) monthly.
Collaborate with the Montessori Mentor to provide individualized coaching and modeling that supports effective implementation of Montessori home visits and adult-child interactions.
Document assessments, coaching sessions, and home visit observations in Child Plus maintaining accurate coaching records to support program improvement and continuous quality enhancement.
Coordinate and planning of group socialization activities in center-based program, in collaboration with Montessori Mentor.
Meet with EHS Early Childhood Specialist periodically.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree required; early childhood education preferred.
Willingness to obtain AMI Core Principles Certificate or Assistance to Infancy (A to I) Montessori Certification.
Parents as Teachers training required or willingness to obtain.
Ability and interest in providing Montessori experience in a non-traditional environment.
Strong problem solving, communication (oral and written), relationship building, and organizational skills and abilities.
Ability to lead and motivate others.
Respect for cultural, ethnic, and linguistic diversity.
Ability to build relationships of trust and respect.
