VIROQUA AREA MONTESSORI SCHOOL
Position Title: Montessori Teacher, Children''s House (PreK-K, 4-6 year olds)
Duties of the Position: Develop and implement developmentally-appropriate lessons and practices that reflect the Montessori approach to education while addressing District Essential Learning Standards and Common Core State Standards in a multi-age environment.
Special Skills/Education Required: Must be certified or eligible to be certified by the Wisconsin DPI to teach pre-kindergarten and kindergarten aged children (Early Childhood). Must be willing to teach in a multi-age environment using the Montessori principles of education with fidelity. Must be trained or willing to be trained at the early childhood level in Montessori. Must be child centered and able to work cooperatively with staff. Willing to be trained and implement Science of Reading best practices using Orton-Gillingham resources along with Montessori materials.
Additional Comments: Prefer knowledge of/experience with Montessori, Responsive Classroom, Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), Response to Intervention (RtI), Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS). This person will also play an essential role in the promotion and continued development of Viroqua Area Montessori School (VAMS), which is a public charter school within the Viroqua Area School District.
Eligible License Types: Must be certified or eligible to be certified by the Wisconsin DPI to teach pre-kindergarten and kindergarten aged children through one or more of the following pathways:
70 Early Childhood (EC) PK-3,
71 Early Childhood-Middle Childhood (EC-MC) PK-6
74 Early Childhood-Adolescence (EC-A) PK-12
19 Charter School Instructional Staff Permit
WI Montessori License
Work Schedule of the Position: 7:30-3:305, School year calendar
Anticipated Start Date: August 11-12, 2006 (New Teacher Inservice)
