POSITION OVERVIEW
Morehouse Parish School District is seeking a highly qualified, student-centered Kindergarten Teacher for Morehouse Magnet School. The successful candidate will provide high-quality instruction aligned to Louisiana Student Standards and support the academic, social, emotional, and developmental growth of young learners. The teacher will create a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment while collaborating with families, colleagues, and school leadership to ensure student success.
The ideal candidate demonstrates strong instructional practices, effective classroom management, a commitment to student achievement, and a passion for early childhood education.

Contract Term: Full-Time, 9 - month Contract

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor''s degree from an accredited college or university.
- Hold or be eligible for a valid Louisiana Teaching Certificate with appropriate elementary certification.
- Demonstrate knowledge of elementary curriculum, instructional strategies, classroom management, and assessment practices.
- Ability to effectively communicate and work collaboratively with students, parents, staff, and community stakeholders.
- Must satisfy all employment requirements established by the Morehouse Parish School Board and the Louisiana Department of Education.
PREFERRED
- Early Childhood or Elementary Education certification.
- Previous successful teaching experience in Kindergarten or primary grades.
- Experience implementing evidence-based literacy and numeracy practices.
- Knowledge of Louisiana Student Standards and Louisiana assessment requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to utilize educational technology to enhance instruction.
- Strong classroom management and relationship-building skills.
- Reading endorsement or additional relevant certifications preferred.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan and deliver standards-based instruction aligned with Louisiana Student Standards.
- Create a positive, developmentally appropriate classroom environment that promotes student engagement and learning.
- Assess student progress regularly and utilize data to guide instructional decisions.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse academic, social, emotional, and behavioral needs of students.
- Implement district-approved curricula, instructional strategies, and assessment practices.
- Maintain accurate student records, attendance, grades, and required documentation.
- Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding student progress and school activities.
- Collaborate with administrators, instructional staff, and support personnel to improve student outcomes.
- Establish and maintain effective classroom management procedures.
- Participate in professional development activities, faculty meetings, and school improvement initiatives.
- Support the school''s mission, goals, and culture of academic excellence.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the principal or designee.
