Title: Mortgage Collateral Vice President

Location: Orange, CA

Duration: Direct Hire

Compensation: $150,000 - $180,000 (plus bonus) with great benefits

Work Requirements: U.S. Citizen, Green Card Holder, or Authorized to Work in the United States

Skillset / Experience

Position Overview

A well-established holding company is seeking an experienced Mortgage Collateral Vice President to lead the collateral operations function supporting residential mortgage portfolios. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing collateral integrity, document custody, investor compliance, operational controls, and team leadership while ensuring adherence to GSE and investor guidelines. The successful candidate will drive process improvements, develop policies and procedures, and partner with Capital Markets, Treasury, and Secondary Marketing to ensure operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop high-performing collateral operations teams.
  • Oversee GSE pooled loan acquisitions and final pool certification activities.
  • Manage collateral requirements for loan re-pools, including document defect resolution and curative activities.
  • Direct collateral support for investor loan sale transactions, including due diligence and document review.
  • Ensure collateral documents are collected, validated, and maintained in accordance with investor and document custodian requirements.
  • Develop and manage eNote processes, including policies, procedures, quality control, reporting, and audit compliance.
  • Maintain expertise in residential mortgage collateral documentation and resolve complex collateral issues.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with document custodians, investors, and third-party collateral vendors.
  • Partner with Capital Markets, Treasury, and Secondary Marketing to support mortgage operations.
  • Develop, maintain, and annually review collateral policies, procedures, training materials, and operational controls.
  • Oversee system validations, operational reporting, pipeline management, productivity metrics, and service level performance.
  • Ensure compliance with investor, regulatory, and internal operational standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 10+ years of experience in mortgage banking, finance, loan servicing, or a related industry.
  • 5+ years of residential mortgage collateral operations experience.
  • 3+ years of management or leadership experience.
  • Strong knowledge of GSE pool certification, mortgage collateral documentation, custodial chain of title, loan sales, and document curative processes.
  • Experience managing document custodians and investor collateral requirements.
  • Working knowledge of eNotes, quality control, audit, and compliance processes.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, analytical, and relationship management skills.
  • Ability to interact effectively with executive leadership and serve as a subject matter expert on collateral operations.
