Position is located at 7300 College Boulevard in Overland Park, Kansas.

Position is Monday through Friday 8 am to 5 pm with additional hours as needed.

This role is commission eligible, based upon performance.

Job Title: Mortgage Consumer Direct Lender

The Mortgage Consumer Direct Lender offers professional guidance to customers during their financing search and expert advice on products for 1-4 family residential loans. The incumbent is responsible for proactively calling or responding to an array of customer contact initiatives: telephone inquiries, the Arvest website, the Arvest app, call campaigns and following up on leads and referrals to generate sales of residential mortgage loans. The incumbent will maximize revenue generation in a fast-paced environment utilizing all cross-selling opportunities. The Mortgage Consumer Direct Lender will minimize risk exposure by adhering to all federal, state, and internal compliance regulations, policies, and procedures. Ensures that all customers, both internal and external, are responded to promptly while adhering to the Arvest Sundown Rule.

What You'll Do at Arvest: (Other duties may be assigned.)

  • Proactively contact potential customers through various channels; accept and make multiple sales calls daily (inbound and outbound) utilizing interpersonal and communication skills to generate mortgage applications through lead sources.
  • Provide a comprehensive picture of the full features and benefits of mortgage products in a manner that is most relevant to the customer. Sell the most pertinent benefits positively and persuasively to each customer.
  • Review the Arvest lead management system for leads of applicants, initiate contact and respond to any questions.
  • Take applications over the phone, the Arvest website or the Arvest app and collect required financial/mortgage information. Analyze detailed financial and credit data, matching customer needs with an appropriate loan program and level of risk. Recommend differing products based on customers' needs and circumstances.
  • Maintain a current knowledge base of the mortgage industry, mortgage products, lending practices and regulatory guidelines. Know and follow the Arvest lending policy, procedures, and underwriting requirements.
  • Be cognizant of opportunities to exceed customer expectations by actively listening to the customer and making referrals when applicable. Build rapport and leverage customer relationships by meeting and exceeding their needs.
  • Resolve all customer complaints personally or refer them to the appropriate area. If necessary, forward a copy of all written complaints to the manager for additional follow-up.
  • Build "customer for life" relationships by providing routine and structured follow-ups to ensure each customer always looks to Arvest for future mortgage transactions. Ask for referral opportunities from existing customers to advance the scope and reach of our existing customer base and exceed department sales and personal goals.
  • Understand and comply with bank policy, laws, regulations, and the bank's BSA/AML Program, as applicable to your job duties. This includes but is not limited to; complete compliance training and adhere to internal procedures and controls; report any known violations of compliance policy, laws, or regulations and report any suspicious customer and/or account activity.

Responsibilities:

Toolbox for Success:

  • A high school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required.
  • 1 year of sales experience required.
  • 1 year of mortgage/real estate experience required.
  • Current NMLS SAFE Act Registration or the ability to be registered within 30 days required.
  • Associate degree or equivalent related experience preferred.
  • Relevant military experience considered for veterans and transitioning service members.
