## Description

### Summary of Duties The Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO) proactively solicits new residential mortgage loans as well as the refinancing of existing residential mortgages. In addition, the MLO continually identifies, develops, and maintains a quality network of business relationships (i.e., Realtors, Builders, CPAs, etc.) that serves as a recurring source of referrals for new mortgage lending opportunities. The Mortgage Loan Originator develops new business to support the Companys sales objectives by making independent sales calls on existing and/or potential customers and referral sources, community and professional organizations, and by the retention of current relationships.

### Essential Functions

  • Develops referral contacts (realtors, builders, professional and personal contacts).
  • Conducts daily sales calls with referral sources and prospective customers by introducing the Company, developing a profile, and providing a value proposition.
  • Conducts frequent communication (i.e., telephonic, electronic mail, etc.) with established/previous customers and business partners to identify where additional opportunities exist for an expansion of business relationship.
  • Responds timely and expeditiously to customer inquiries and referrals that are generated from both your own contacts and from other Bank of Ann Arbor business channels.
  • Maintains thorough knowledge of available loan products, processing procedures, underwriting, and general departmental guidelines.
  • Takes thorough and complete loan applications by analyzing and prequalifying the applicant information to determine the viability of the customers desired loan program and offering the best product available for their current needs.
  • Inputs a complete mortgage application into a company supplied laptop and the Encompass origination system, pulls credit, analyzes information supplied, and compares for accuracy with the mortgage borrowers disclosures.
  • Collects appropriate documentation from each applicant and delivers a loan package in the time frames set by management.
  • Manages pipeline for all originated loans through closing and completes required management reports.
  • Partners with assigned Mortgage Loan Processor to provide the best possible customer experience by ensuring on-going communication to customer regarding loan status.
  • Communicates with referral sources by providing timely updates and progress reports on their Clients loans in process.
  • Maintains high levels of customer service while managing each applicants and support staffs expectations.
  • Attends and participates in all Mortgage Lending meetings as required by management.
  • Attends and completes all Bank of Ann Arbor required training.
  • Performs all job functions in accordance with Bank of Ann Arbor policies and procedures, as well as state and federal regulations.
  • Achieves production goals as established by Bank of Ann Arbor.

### Requirements Minimum Qualifications:

  • Four-year college degree preferred.
  • Knowledge of conventional and/or government lending guidelines.
  • Knowledge of residential mortgage processing, underwriting, and closing procedures.
  • Knowledge of federal lending regulations governing real estate lending.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills.
  • Demonstrated teamwork and customer service skills.
  • Proven computer skills.
  • Basic sales technique skills.
  • Strong desire to excel in a competitive environment.

  • This position requires S.A.F.E. Act registration at the time of employment through the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS).
