You’ll play a vital role in underwriting mortgage and home equity loans while delivering top tier service to our members. The role demands attention to detail, an understanding of lending regulations, and the ability to work effectively within a close-knit team. This is a full-time, non-exempt position expected to work 40 hours per week primarily at our Ishpeming branch, but may need to work at our Marquette office based on business needs. Primary Responsibilities: - Interview loan applicants and objectively underwrite a high volume of mortgage and home equity loans in accordance with established guidelines ensuring compliance with all rules and regulations.
- Monitor the status of home equity loans and mortgages in process.
- Follow up with members, realtors, appraisers, etc. to expedite the processing of applications.
- Ensure the successful delivery of mortgage loan services quickly, accurately, courteously, and in a confidential manner.
- Identify member needs and provide information regarding how the credit union’s products and services can meet those needs including ancillary products (debt protection and other loan-related services).
- Provide quality member service ensuring the credit union’s professional image is maintained by delivering services efficiently, in a professional manner, and in compliance with existing regulations and policies.
- Provide excellent internal and external member service and respond to all member inquiries promptly and professionally.
- Provide backup to other mortgage loan officers as needed
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: - Knowledge of lending practices, regulations, etc.
- Knowledge of secondary market requirements

- Organized with good attention to detail ensuring high accuracy and low error rates

Minimum Education: High School Diploma Preferences: Lending experience Post high school education or training Compensation: Minimum $21/hour.
