One Nevada Credit Union is looking for a Mortgage Loan Processor to join our phenomenal mortgage team!
The Mortgage Loan Processor is responsible for gathering, reviewing, and organizing documentation for first mortgage loan applications to ensure complete and accurate loan files are prepared for underwriting review. This role serves as a key liaison between applicants, loan officers, underwriters, and third-party vendors to facilitate timely loan processing and closing.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Data Assembly (40%) Organize and assemble loan documentation in compliance with FHA, VA, FHLMC, and FNMA requirements. Expedite the collection and return of all information and supporting documents needed to complete loan files. Review documentation exceptions with Mortgage Underwriters and recommend alternative solutions when appropriate. Communicate verbally and in writing with applicants, loan officers, and vendors to obtain and clarify documentation requirements. Maintain accurate and complete loan files throughout the processing cycle.
Loan Processing (30%) Review loan files for checklist verification of all initial documentation. Ensure documentation satisfies Mortgage Underwriter and Automated Underwriting System (AUS) requirements. Enter and maintain accurate loan information within the loan processing system. Order appraisals, credit reports, preliminary title work, and other required documentation. Prepare written verifications, correspondence, and supporting documentation necessary for underwriting review. Monitor file status and follow up on outstanding conditions in a timely manner.
Submission and File Management (30%) Review assembled loan documentation for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with FHA, VA, FHLMC, and FNMA guidelines. Ensure all required documentation is included before underwriting submission. Prepare underwriting review forms and submit complete files for underwriting approval. Complete required follow-up documentation for approved, suspended, or declined loans. Track underwriting conditions and coordinate collection of required items. Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS High school diploma or equivalent required. Minimum of 1-3 years of mortgage loan processing experience preferred. Knowledge of FHA, VA, FNMA, and FHLMC mortgage guidelines. Experience working with loan origination and/or mortgage processing systems. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to manage multiple loans and deadlines simultaneously. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook. Detail-oriented and highly organized Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities Member service focused Ability to work independently and collaboratively Effective time management and prioritization skills Commitment to accuracy and regulatory compliance Experience in banking, credit union, or mortgage lending environments. Knowledge of underwriting requirements and mortgage compliance regulations. Familiarity with automated underwriting systems (AUS).
