    About the Role: Mortgage Origination Specialist

    The Mortgage Origination Specialist reviews residential loan applications and works with Lenders to verify that the application data is complete, accurate and meets guidelines; including type and amount of mortgage, borrower's assets, liabilities, length of employment, income, appraisal data and any other information that may be needed to process the application. The specialist will inform underwriting of any discrepancies during the review and verification process prior to submission of the completed mortgage loan application.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Use loan processing software to process loan applications
    • Communicate with applicants to obtain required documentation
    • Send out verifications of employment and deposit
    • Compute income and update loan data in software from information received from verifications
    • Update appraisal information and send completed appraisals and evaluations to applicants
    • Keep software communication tools current so lenders can easily see the status of their files
    • Submit completed files to Underwriting
    • Monitor the pipeline and alerts in the software daily
    • Prepare commitment letters for purchase transactions
    • Work with lenders to clear conditions prior to loan closing
    • Perform other duties as may be assigned
    • Adhere to the bank's Code of Ethics
