NQM is a mortgage company focused on purchasing, selling, and servicing mortgage loans. We work closely with sub-servicers and investors to manage the movement of mortgage payments and ensure accurate remittance and reconciliation across complex loan ownership structures.

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical professional to oversee our mortgage remittance and payment allocation process.

Our Finance Department is looking to hire a Mortgage Remittance Analyst.This position is Remote.

Job Title: Mortgage Remittance Analyst

Reports To: Accounting Team Lead

FLSA Status: Exempt

Department: Financial Services

Salary Range: $55K to $65K

Summary:

The Mortgage Remittance Analyst is responsible for managing the remittance process for mortgage payments collected by both NQM and third-party sub-servicers. This role determines who payments are owed to based on loan ownership, servicing transfer activity, loan purchase and sale transactions, and investor agreements.

This position requires strong analytical skills, mortgage servicing knowledge, and the ability to reconcile complex payment activity with a high level of accuracy.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Mortgage Payment Remittance

  • Manage daily and monthly mortgage remittance processing.
  • Determine proper allocation of borrower payments to:
    • NQM
    • Prior loan owners
    • Investors
    • Purchasers of loans
  • Review and validate payment data received from sub-servicers.
  • Ensure timely and accurate remittance of principal, interest, escrow, and fees.

Reconciliation & Research

  • Reconcile custodial and remittance accounts.
  • Investigate discrepancies, unapplied funds, suspense balances, and payment breaks.
  • Research payment ownership issues related to:
    • Loan purchases and sales
    • Servicing transfers
    • Effective date changes
    • Investor reporting
  • Coordinate with accounting and operations teams to resolve issues.

Sub-Servicer Oversight

  • Serve as a primary contact for sub-servicer remittance activity.
  • Review remittance reports and payment files for accuracy.
  • Escalate and resolve discrepancies with sub-servicer partners.
  • Monitor remittance timelines and reporting requirements.

Reporting & Controls

  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly remittance reports.
  • Maintain documentation and audit support for remittance activity.
  • Assist with process improvements and operational controls.
  • Support internal and external audits as needed.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Experience

  • 3–5+ years of experience in:
    • Mortgage servicing
    • Investor accounting
    • Cash reconciliation
    • Mortgage operations
    • Remittance processing
  • Experience working with sub-servicers strongly preferred.

Skills & Knowledge

  • Strong understanding of mortgage payment flows and servicing operations.
  • Ability to analyze large data sets and reconcile complex transactions.
  • Advanced Excel skills including:
    • Pivot tables
    • VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP
    • Reconciliation analysis
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with mortgage servicing systems.
  • Knowledge of custodial accounting and investor remittance processes.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field preferred.
