Role Summary
The Mortgage Sales Manager is responsible for leading the overall performance of the mortgage department, including loan production, portfolio growth, secondary market activity, compliance, business development, and team leadership. This individual will leverage existing relationships within the banking and mortgage industries to expand business opportunities while providing hands-on leadership and strategic direction for the department. The ideal candidate is an experienced banking professional with a proven history of managing teams, making operational and lending decisions, and driving growth.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead, manage, coach, and hold the mortgage team accountable to established goals and KPIs
- Drive growth of the mortgage portfolio and secondary market loan production
- Develop new business through strong internal, external, and community relationships
- Leverage existing banking and mortgage industry contacts to identify and generate new business opportunities
- Monitor mortgage income, expenses, productivity, and operational performance
- Maintain strong compliance and lending standards
- Recruit, develop, and retain high-performing team members
- Promote mortgage products and cross-selling opportunities throughout the organization
- Analyze performance metrics and implement strategies to improve results
- Create a culture where strong performance and exceptional member service go hand in hand
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of mortgage lending, banking operations, loan origination, and regulatory compliance
- Knowledge of the secondary mortgage market
- Established professional network within the banking and mortgage industries
- Proven ability to develop business through community involvement and industry relationships
- Strong leadership, coaching, and team development skills
- Results-oriented with a demonstrated history of achieving growth and production goals
- Excellent communication, relationship-building, and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to balance people leadership, compliance, profitability, and member service
Requirements
- Minimum two (2) years of mortgage lending, mortgage operations, or banking experience
- Previous branch management or department management experience required
- Candidates must have held a formal management role with responsibility for business, operational, personnel, and lending decisions
- Leadership or Lead experience alone will not satisfy this requirement
- Demonstrated success growing loan production, developing business relationships, and achieving measurable results
- Established contacts and relationships within the banking and/or mortgage industry strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of mortgage regulations, compliance requirements, and lending practices
- Willingness to actively represent the organization within the community and cultivate external business relationships
- Ability to lead in a performance-driven, accountability-focused environment
