The Massachusetts Department of State Police is seeking an enthusiastic and qualified individual to join the Fleet Section as a Motor Equipment Mechanic. This is an exciting opportunity to join the state police in a civilian capacity and to support the critical mission of the Massachusetts Department of State Police.
The selected individual will perform a wide variety of regular and complicated maintenance, repair and testing work on all State Police motor vehicles and equipment. Conduct accurate and thorough inspections to diagnose mechanical issues on motor vehicles and perform automotive repairs including engine management systems, fuel management systems, transmission, electrical alignment, steering, suspension, brakes, etc.

Minimum Entrance Requirements:
Applicants must have at least (A) three years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, experience in the repair, maintenance and overhaul of automotive equipment such as automobiles, trucks, bulldozers, cranes, front end loaders, etc. of which (B) at least one year must have been in a supervisory capacity, or (C) any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below.
Substitutions:
I. A certificate or diploma from a recognized trade, technical or vocational school, at the high school level or above, with a major in automotive shop practice may be substitution for one year of the required (A) experience.
Special Requirements: Based on assignment:
Possession of a current and valid Massachusetts Class B Motor Vehicle Operator''s License.
Possession of a current and valid Massachusetts Class C or hoisting license.
