Akima Facilities Operations (AFO) is seeking a Motor Vehicle Mechanic to work in Fort Hood, TX. To join our team of outstanding professionals, apply today!

Responsibilities

+ The Motor Vehicle Mechanic repairs, rebuilds, or overhauls major assemblies of internal combustion automobiles, buses, trucks or tractors. Work involves most of the following:

+ Diagnosing the source of trouble and determining the extent of repairs required; replacing worn or broken parts such as piston rings, bearings, or other engine parts; grinding and adjusting valves; rebuilding carburetors; overhauling transmissions; and repairing fuel injection, lighting, and ignition systems.

+ In general, the work of the Motor Vehicle Mechanic requires rounded training and experience usually acquired through a formal apprenticeship or equivalent.

Qualifications

+ Must have a minimum of 2 years of motor vehicle maintenance experience.

+ Must be knowledgeable in U.S. Army maintenance procedures and AR 750-1.

+ Must have the ability to pass Pre-Employment Drug Test and Background Screening.

+ Must have the ability to receive a favorable TIER 1 investigation.

+ Must be able to bring and use own tool.

Desired Qualification:

+ 3-5 years of maintenance experience preferred.

+ US Army MOS 91/63 series qualification is desired.

+ Experience on US Army tactical vehicles is desired.

+ Valid Driver’s license preferred.

+ ASE Certified preferred.

+ HVAC EPA Tech Cert 608/609 a plus.

+ Emergency Vehicle Technician Certified ASE Certification desired.

+ High School Diploma/Equivalent preferred.

+ Commercial Driver's license with Passenger Endorsement.

Physical Demands:

+ Physical requirements include (but are not limited to) the ability to lift 50 pounds, pushing, pulling, carrying, stooping, bending, squatting, and reaching.

+ Work environment includes periodic overtime, exposure to heat, dust, cold, and inclement weather conditions.

Pay and Benefits:

+ Hourly Pay Rate: $21.90.

+ Hourly Health & Welfare: $5.09
