Help

  • Serves as a Motor Vehicle Operator with responsibility for driving CYS owned or assigned busses or other CYS authorized vehicles that weigh more than 26,000 lbs. or carry more than 15 passengers.
  • Ensures the safety and well-being of children, youth and adults being transported to and from the program and on field trips. Maintains control of and accountability for children and youth at all times.
  • Ensures children and youth know how to safely evacuate the bus. Practices bus evacuation following prescribed procedures with children and youth on a monthly basis. Documents all drills in writing.
  • Follows procedures to guarantee no child is left alone on the bus without adult supervision at any time and ensures all children have left the bus at the end of the route.
  • Routinely inventories and maintains bus emergency and first aid supplies. Arranges for and ensures completion of routine maintenance of bus (e.g., oil change) transporting the bus to and from maintenance and/or repair facilities.

  • Satisfactory completion of pre-employment background checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para.2 and a Child Care Tier 1 background investigation is required.
  • Must have current health assessment which documents good mental and physical health, freedom from communicable disease, and immunizations IAW current Army and DoD policy including annual influenza vaccinations.
  • Schedule includes irregular hours, evenings, holidays, and/or weekends.
  • Duties involve working both indoors and outdoors under different types of weather conditions.
  • This position requires mandatory drug testing.
  • Satisfactory performance and successful completion of Annual training requirements within prescribed time frame are required.
  • This position requires mandated reporting of all suspected incidents of child abuse/neglect.
  • The physical ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs, walk, bend, stoop, and stand on a routine basis is required.
  • The appropriate drivers license must be valid and current.
  • Drives outside in all kinds of weather in a controlled traffic environment throughout a military installation. Exposed to dirt and fumes, and the possibility of cuts, bruises, and broken bones as a result of accidents while driving.
  • High school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma is required.

A qualified candidate must possess the following:

  • High school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma.
  • Ability to communicate in English at a level to assure the duties described can be accomplished in a safe and satisfactory manner.
  • Experience in accomplishing the types of duties described in this job.
  • Requires a commercial drivers license (CDL) with no restrictions to operate a passenger vehicle that carries 16 or more.

Education

High school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma is required.

Allowances and Differentials

  • This job falls under the Federal Wage Schedule (FWS) pay system. FWS employees earn overtime pay for working more than 8 hours in a day or more than 40 hours in a week - whichever gives the employee more benefit. Regular full-time, regular part-time, and regularly scheduled flexible employees may receive Sunday premium pay for working on Sundays. Employees may also be eligible to receive extra pay if the majority of their scheduled hours falls after 3:00 PM.
  • Foreign overseas allowances, post allowance, and differentials will not be paid, contingent upon eligibility.

The institutional Army supports the operational Army. Institutional organizations provide the infrastructure necessary to raise, train, equip, deploy, and ensure the readiness of all Army forces. The training base provides military skills and professional education to every Soldier—as well as members of sister services and allied forces. It also allows the Army to expand rapidly in time of war. The industrial base provides world-class equipment and logistics for the Army. Army installations provide the power-projection platforms required to deploy land forces promptly to support combatant commanders. Once those forces are deployed, the institutional Army provides the logistics needed to support them.

Without the institutional Army, the operational Army cannot function. Without the operational Army, the institutional Army has no purpose.

The Army mission is vital to the Nation because we are the service capable of defeating enemy ground forces and indefinitely seizing and controlling those things an adversary prizes most – its land, its resources and its population.
