The Bureau of Motor Vehicles seeks a detail-oriented and motivated professional to join our team as a Motor Vehicle Title Examiner. In this critical role, you will be responsible for reviewing and processing motor vehicle title applications, verifying ownership documentation, and issuing or rejecting title certificates by Maine laws and BMV policies. Your work will involve assessing various documents, including court documents, out-of-state assignments, and repossessions, to ensure compliance and prevent fraud. This is a high-volume, fast-paced environment where accuracy and integrity are essential. As a key member of our team, you will support the Bureau's mission by helping to ensure the accuracy, legality, and trustworthiness of Maine's vehicle title records.
Comfort learning and adopting new technologies, experience streamlining or digitizing paper-based work, clear written communication, curiosity about emerging workplace tools, and the judgment to evaluate and verify their output before relying on it.
(Entry level knowledges, skills, and/or abilities may be acquired through, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO the following coursework/training and/or experience.)
Training, education, or experience in office and administrative support work that demonstrates 1) competency in applying a proficient knowledge of modern office practices to perform advanced administrative support tasks requiring specialized skills, and 2) the ability to use independent judgment, initiative, and discretion to make determinations on varied matters. All positions in this classification assume the qualifications of: Office Assistant I, Office Assistant II, Office Associate I and Office Associate II.

The successful candidate must pass a National Criminal Background check, which may include fingerprinting.
