We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated MRI Technologist to join our team at Southern Nevada Veterans Affairs Health Care System (VAHCS). As a MRI Tech, you will play a critical role in supporting our radiology procedures, working closely with our radiologists and healthcare team to provide exceptional patient care. The ideal candidate will have experience in assisting with minimally invasive procedures, handling medical equipment, and maintaining a sterile environment.
Work Schedule: 8:00am-4:30pm Monday through Friday
Job Duties:
- Schedules exams in a manner so as to optimize all of the radiographic equipment including the MRI scanner times while maintaining a flexibility to allow for emergency cases.
- Confers with Staff Radiologists to determine requirements of non-standard exams.
- Determines technical factors, positioning, number and thickness of scans, etc., to produce and satisfy requirements of MRI scanning.
- Prepares contrast materials that are used in MRI and general exams.
- Practices MRI safety to reduce injury to patients, staff and self.
- Properly identifies patient through the RIS interface identifier and marks images with left/right markers/labels as appropriate.
- Assures that MRI patients are screened in advance for any contraindicating conditions per Medical Imaging policy.
- Responsible to explain exams to competent patients so that patients understand what is to be done as well as what hazards, if any, are possible.
- Responsible for stocking and inventory of all MRI supplies and related material.
- Responsible for assuming various rotating schedules/shifts and call as determined by the Lead Technologist or Supervisor.
Requirements:
- Current, full ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) certification in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification (Must be through American Heart Association)
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to VA policies and procedures
Preferred Qualifications:
- 1-2 years of experience as an MRI Technologist in a VA or other healthcare setting
- Experience with multiple MRI modalities, including functional MRI and diffusion-weighted imaging
- Knowledge of MRI safety protocols and procedures
- Experience with electronic medical records and radiology information systems
