About the Role

We're hiring an experienced MRI Technician for a 90-day onsite contract assignment supporting the Radiology Department at a leading healthcare facility in Troy, New York.

This role focuses on independent MRI scanning, patient care, image acquisition, and radiology support within a fast-paced clinical imaging environment. The ideal candidate is experienced in MRI procedures, highly detail-oriented, and comfortable working evening shifts while delivering excellent patient care and technical imaging support.

Compensation

  • Pay Rate: $70.10/hour

What You'll Do

Patient Care & Preparation

  • Prepare and position patients for MRI examinations
  • Perform patient pre-screening and scheduling activities
  • Educate patients on MRI procedures and safety requirements
  • Ensure patient comfort and safety throughout imaging procedures
  • Accurately select anatomical and technical imaging parameters

MRI Imaging & Clinical Support

  • Perform independent MRI scans and image acquisition
  • Enter and monitor patient data within imaging systems
  • Transfer and manage imaging files and records
  • Produce and verify high-quality diagnostic images
  • Ensure prompt submission of imaging studies to PACS systems
  • Verify patient data, image labeling, and lead markers
  • Communicate significant findings to radiologists as appropriate

Equipment & Safety

  • Follow MRI and radiation safety procedures at all times
  • Monitor MRI equipment performance and functionality
  • Report equipment issues or malfunctions promptly
  • Conduct routine equipment and operational checks
  • Maintain compliance with imaging and patient safety protocols

Department & Facility Support

  • Maintain clean and organized imaging rooms and workspaces
  • Ensure dressing rooms and storage areas remain stocked and orderly
  • Support departmental organization and workflow efficiency
  • Maintain proper handling and storage of imaging materials and supplies

Required Qualifications

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of MRI Technician experience required
  • Minimum 2 years of independent MRI scanning experience required
  • Traveler or contract imaging experience preferred

Certifications & Licensure

  • Current MRI certification required (ARRT or equivalent)
  • Valid New York State Radiologic Technologist License required or equivalent
  • Current BLS/CPR certification preferred

Technical Skills

  • Strong MRI imaging and scanning expertise
  • Proficiency operating MRI equipment and imaging systems
  • Experience with PACS and imaging software
  • Strong understanding of MRI safety procedures and protocols
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities

Soft Skills

  • Excellent patient communication and bedside manner
  • Strong attention to detail and image accuracy
