MRI Technician | Troy, NY | 90-Day Contract | Onsite | Evening Shift

Join the Radiology Department at a premier healthcare facility in Troy, NY. This 90-day contract position supports the MRI imaging department, providing essential technical expertise in a fast-paced clinical environment. Work evening shifts (3:00 PM–11:00 PM) as part of a dynamic healthcare team.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

• Title: MRI Technician

• Type: Contract 

• Duration: 90 days (May 11, 2026 – September 7, 2026)

• Hours: 40 hours per week (36 hours listed with variations)

• Schedule: Monday–Friday, 3:00 PM–11:00 PM EST

• Work Type: Onsite

• Reporting Location: Troy, NY (2215 Burdett Ave)

• Department: Radiology - MRI Tech

COMPENSATION:

• Pay Rate: $70.10/hour

SHIFT DETAILS:

• Primary Shift: 3:00 PM–11:00 PM, Monday–Friday

• Evening shift (no weekends)

• Consistent schedule within contracted period

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

PATIENT CARE & PREPARATION:

• Prepare and position patients for MRI examinations

• Perform patient pre-screening and scheduling

• Provide patient education related to MRI examination procedures

• Ensure patient comfort and safety throughout procedures

• Select anatomic and technical parameters accurately to produce cross-sectional images

TECHNICAL & CLINICAL SUPPORT:

• Perform independent MRI scanning and image acquisition

• Enter and monitor patient data into imaging systems

• Transfer images from disk to magnetic media as needed

• Produce film transparencies using appropriate techniques

• Develop film in automatic processor

• Ensure prompt submission of high-quality images to PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System)

• Verify correct lead markers and patient data/history on all images

• Report important findings and images to radiologist

EQUIPMENT & SAFETY:

• Follow radiation safety procedures and guidelines at all times

• Ensure equipment is properly functioning and calibrated

• Report potential problems or equipment malfunctions to appropriate personnel

• Monitor equipment performance during shifts

• Conduct routine equipment checks

FACILITY MAINTENANCE:

• Assist in maintaining a clean and orderly department

• Keep procedure rooms organized and sanitized

• Maintain storage areas in proper condition

• Ensure dressing rooms are clean and stocked

• Organize film storage area

• Maintain any other departmental areas as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:

EXPERIENCE:

• Minimum 2 years as an MRI Technician

• 2 years of independent scanning experience required

• Contract/traveler experience preferred

CERTIFICATIONS & CREDENTIALS:

• Current MRI Technician certification (ARRT or equivalent)

• Valid New York State Radiologic Technologist License or equivalent

• Current BLS/CPR certification preferred

SKILLS:

• Expertise in MRI technology and imaging

• Proficiency with MRI equipment operation

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy

• Excellent patient communication and bedside manner

• Ability to work in fast-paced clinical environment

• Knowledge of radiation safety principles

• Proficiency with PACS and imaging software

• Problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities

• Physical stamina for standing, bending, and assisting patients
