Summary:
The MRI Technologist performs all magnetic resonance procedures to produce cross-sectional images of patients body for diagnostic purposes according to protocol and age specific needs.
Responsibilities:
- Performs all magnetic resonance procedures to produce cross-sectional images of patients body for diagnostic purposes according to protocol and age specific needs.
- Performs all tasks involved in MRI screening and safety for MRI patients, families, and others that are required to enter the MRI environment.
- Follows all QA/QC guidelines for all equipment.
- Administers contrast materials and prepares and operates the MRI scanner equipment and ancillary equipment.
- Performs clerical duties in RIS, PACS, and hospital computer systems are associated with this position.
- Rotates call to provide coverage outside of normal business hours.
- Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care for the physical, psychological, social, educational, and safety needs of the patients served regardless of age.
- Other duties as required.

Technical Expertise
- Demonstrated competency in radiologic imaging principles required.
- Knowledge of MRI scanning techniques, safety standards, and patient screening procedures required.
- Ability to perform MRI procedures independently or under appropriate supervision while progressing toward MRI certification.
- Understanding of MRI safety practices, including implant screening and emergency procedures.
- Knowledge of contrast administration and patient monitoring protocols.
- Familiarity with RIS, PACS, and electronic health record systems required.
Education and Experience
- Education: Graduate from an AMA approved school of Radiologic Technology is required.
- Licensure: None
- Certification: Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiography (R) is required. ARRT certification in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) must be obtained within two (2) years of hire.
- Years of relevant experience: Minimum of 2 years is preferred.
