Job Description:
Essential Duties & Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
Performs MR exams of the head, chest, abdomen, extremities, or any MR exam procedure ordered by the radiologist.
Competent in the use of MR scan computers, consoles, laser cameras, Medrad Injector, and any patient monitoring devices. Epic experience a plus.
Follows department protocols when performing MR exams or duties related to MR scanning.
Accurately follows directives given by the supervising radiologist.
Administers oral and intravenous contrast material.
Starts and monitors intravenous lines.
Logs reactions to contrast in reaction book and computer, preforms QA and ACR requirements.
Follows procedures for equipment start-up, calibration, and shutdown.
Takes call according to schedules and respond promptly to a request to scan. MRI technologists are expected to be at the hospital within 60 minutes of notification of an emergency request. Interacts respectfully, professionally and courteously with patients, co-workers, and medical staff.
Assists in training of student radiographers.
Utilizes time productively and appropriately with respect to patient flow, room use, stocking of supplies, and clerical duties to increase department efficiency. Patient wait time is kept to a minimum. More than 90% of time worked is spent on productive tasks without supervisory prompting.
Actively follows Universal Precaution guidelines with each patient.
Attends yearly "Blood-borne pathogens/OSHA" in service.
Practices aseptic technique when necessary. Produces an accurate computer and written record of each exam. Completes requisitions/film/jacket correlation accurately 98% of the time.
Pursues continuing education by attending department and hospital-wide programs, regional seminars, and/or college courses.
Meets ARRT/ARMRIT standards. Meets MA State Licensing standards if warranted.
Performs various other similar or related duties as required and/or directed by supervisors.
Willingly performs tasks for which the employee is competent.
Qualifications:
Minimum 2 years' experience in MRI, preferred.
Registered by the American Registry (ARRT) RT License Required, MRI Preferred.
Excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills.
Physical Requirements & Environment:
Requires standing, bending, pushing, pulling, reaching above the head, moving about the department and hospital, and/or lifting more than 75% of the time.
Exposure to radiation, strong magnetic field, infectious diseases, chemicals, and hazardous materials 75% of the time.
Ability to hear conversation, and to comprehend and communicate in spoken and written English more than 75% of the time.
Ability to wear protective equipment such as gloves, masks, and gowns.
Ability to work and move about in confined spaces.
Ability to be a team player and coordinate the best patient care possible.
Pay Range:
$48.00 - $71.33
The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law. Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other additional pay practices, as applicable to the position and in accordance with the law.
