This position administers sound patient care practices according to department/hospital policies and procedures while ensuring patient safety.\n Communicates effectively with patients to obtain clinical history/informed consent to assist the physician in optimizing the performance and interpretation of the examination. Explains procedure to patients/families and answers any questions to ease anxiety and ensure patient cooperation.\n Assists the physician in performing a variety of examinations using standard department protocols, isolation precautions and/or sterile technique.\n Utilizes knowledge of IV's, heparin locks and central line usage as they pertain to Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI).\n Performs/recognizes the need for routine maintenance of imagers/processors to maintain consistent quality images.\n May perform additional duties as assigned.\n \nMinimum Qualifications:\n\n Education: One of the following:\n Graduate of an accredited school of radiography \n MRI certification from American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMIT) \n Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT)\n Graduate of an accredited school of nuclear medicine with MRI training (must be MRI Registry eligible through ARRT)\n \n\n Certification:\n Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association required upon start. \n One of the following:\n ARRT registered in radiography or ARMIT\n CAMRT certification 18 months upon acceptance of the offer\n \n\n \n\n* Experience: Prior experience preferred as Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist and/or MRI Technologist in a hospital/healthcare environment or recent student at Inova Health System.\n\n
