Job Title: MRI Technologist

Location: New York, NY
Duration: 13 Weeks
Schedule: 3x12-Hour Shifts
Shift: 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM

Compensation

  • Traveler Pay: $78–$81/hr ($2,691–$2,794/week) based on experience
  • Local Pay: $65–$70/hr ($2,242–$2,415/week) based on experience

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced MRI Technologist to perform high-quality magnetic resonance imaging procedures while ensuring patient safety, comfort, and diagnostic accuracy. The MRI Technologist will utilize advanced imaging equipment and technical expertise to obtain diagnostic-quality images in accordance with established protocols and regulatory standards.

The ideal candidate will possess strong knowledge of MRI physics, cross-sectional anatomy, patient care, and MRI safety practices in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform MRI examinations according to physician orders and departmental protocols.
  • Position patients and MRI coils appropriately to obtain optimal diagnostic images.
  • Educate patients regarding imaging procedures, preparation requirements, and safety precautions.
  • Review MRI safety screening questionnaires and verify patient eligibility before entering the MRI environment.
  • Evaluate images for technical quality and ensure accurate image acquisition.
  • Transmit completed studies to PACS and ensure timely exam completion within the Radiology Information System.
  • Maintain accurate patient records, exam documentation, and tracking information.
  • Schedule and coordinate imaging examinations as required.
  • Assist radiologists and physicians during imaging procedures when necessary.
  • Monitor patients throughout examinations and respond appropriately to patient needs.
  • Maintain MRI suite cleanliness, equipment readiness, and supply inventory.
  • Identify and report equipment malfunctions, maintenance needs, and safety concerns.
  • Adhere to MRI safety guidelines to prevent unauthorized ferromagnetic materials from entering the scan environment.
  • Follow infection prevention, patient safety, and quality assurance standards.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, continuing education, and professional development activities.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support department operations.

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Graduate of an AMA/JRCERT-accredited Radiologic Technology program required.

Licensure & Certifications

  • Current New York State License in Diagnostic Radiology required.
  • ARRT Certification in MRI required.
  • Current BCLS/BLS Certification required.

Experience

  • Previous MRI experience preferred.
  • Minimum two (2) years of MRI experience strongly preferred.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong understanding of MRI physics, imaging principles, and cross-sectional anatomy.
  • Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and advanced imaging techniques.
  • Excellent technical and patient care skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and image quality standards.
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency with PACS, Radiology Information Systems (RIS), and electronic documentation systems.
