Job Title: MRI Technologist
Location: NYC, NY
Duration: 3 months Contract
Schedule: DAYS Monday-Friday 8am-4pm
Hourly rate: $71/ hour on W2 Negotiable
Job Summary- Operate and prepare specialized MRI equipment to perform magnetic resonance imaging procedures.
- Apply appropriate technical judgment to obtain diagnostically acceptable images according to written protocols and patient needs.
- Job Responsibilities
- Perform MRI imaging procedures according to department protocols.
- Position patients and MRI coils to obtain optimal images.
- Educate patients regarding:
- Nature and purpose of the procedure
- Area being imaged
- Required preparation and instructions
- Review MRI safety questionnaires before allowing patients into the MRI scan room.
- Maintain strict MRI safety standards and prevent ferromagnetic materials from entering the scan room.
- Ensure all MRI images are accurately labeled according to department SOPs.
- Evaluate images for technical quality and completeness.
- Transmit completed images to PACS in a timely manner.
- Complete all studies in IDX/Radiology Information System (RIS) promptly.
- Accurately document patient tracking information in IDX/RIS.
- Schedule MRI examinations in IDX/RIS as required.
- Maintain cleanliness of the MRI room and equipment at the beginning and end of each shift.
- Remove and replace soiled or dirty linen as needed.
- Scan and maintain patient-related documentation.
- Maintain necessary MRI supplies and accessories.
- Report equipment problems, required repairs, and unsafe conditions to the appropriate supervisor/personnel.
- Assist physicians directly when required.
- Call for inpatients as required.
- Perform related clerical duties when support personnel are unavailable.
- Follow infection-control policies and protocols to protect patients, staff, and self.
- Attend required in-services, training, and professional development meetings.
- Maintain required licensure and comply with applicable Public Health Code requirements.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Experience- Strong knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy.
- Strong understanding of MRI physics and physical sciences.
- Excellent technical MRI skills.
- Knowledge of anatomy and physiology.
- Ability to produce high-quality diagnostic MRI images.
- Strong understanding and application of MRI safety procedures.
- Preferred Qualifications
- 2+ years of MRI experience.
- Breast MRI proficiency.
- Breast MRI biopsy experience preferred.
