Overview:

The MRI Technologist operates specialized MRI Imaging equipment to produce diagnostic images. The MRI Technologist is responsible for performing MRI examinations using the Esaote O-Scan 0.3T extremity MRI scanner in accordance with New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) requirements, FCNY policies, and manufacturer-specific operating procedures. The MRI Technologist performs MRI studies of anatomical areas as ordered/directed, as according to established standards and protocols. This role ensures safe patient care, accurate image acquisition, proper documentation, and high-quality imaging to support diagnostic interpretation by the Supervising/Interpreting Radiologist.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform MRI Imaging procedures
  • Operate the Esaote O-Scan 03T MRI system and follow all safety and manufacturer protocols
  • Perform patient identification, MRI safety screening, and exam preparation
  • Position patients and select appropriate imaging protocols
  • Monitor patients, maintain safety in all MRI zones, and enforce 5-Gauss line restrictions
  • Complete documentation, upload images to PACS, and maintain MRI logs
  • Perform and record daily QC and report equipment concerns
  • Participate in required MRI safety training and support DOH inspections
  • Communicate patient concerns, abnormal findings during scanning, and safety issues immediately
  • Participate in staff meetings and MRI safety training updates
  • Support teaching and demonstration for students observing MRI workflows
  • Apply the necessary technical judgement to obtain studies of an acceptable diagnostic quality according to written protocols and the patient needs
  • Provide patient education relevant to specific imaging procedures
  • Assist radiologist as required
  • Maintain all patient safety questionaries prior to introducing any patients into the MRI scan room
  • Attend in services and other professional development meetings as required
Qualifications:

Education/Experience

  • Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology or MRI Technologist program.
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists certification in radiology and magnetic resonance imaging
  • Radiologic Technologist – MRI (RT–MR)
  • Radiologic Technologist – Radiography (RT–R)
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Completion of FCNY MRI Safety Training Levels 1 & 2.
  • One year experience in Diagnostic Imaging
  • Proficient in EMR, RIS, PACS modality software
  • Strong communication, problem solving, and customer service skills.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Prior MRI experience (extremity MRI preferred).
  • Documented training on the Esaote O-Scan MRI system (manufacturer's certificate)
  • Experience in outpatient or academic clinic settings.
  • Familiarity with PACS and electronic health records.
  • NYS DOH IV injection license

Working Conditions

  • Ability to assist with patient positioning and movement.
  • Ability to stand, bend, and lift light equipment as needed.
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods during scanning.
Maximum Salary: USD $68.00/Hr. Minimum Salary: USD $50.00/Hr.
