Position Summary:

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a MRI Technologist - Outpatient Radiology- Patchogue. In this role, the successful candidate will:

Under the direction of a Radiologist, operate Magnetic Resonance Imaging equipment to produce clinical diagnostic images and perform procedures according to established standards and practices, including patient identification, safety standards, and completion of required forms before allowing a patient to leave the zone area.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Accurately utilize the PACS (Picture Archival System) to make images available to the radiologist for interpretation with minimum number of exceptions.
  • Enter proper exam coding in the Radiology Information System and arrive and complete exams in a timely fashion.
  • Assist in the care and maintenance of facilities, equipment, and supplies. Report any equipment problems or malfunctions to the supervisor in a timely fashion.
  • Instruct and supervise radiography students in clinical practicum. Work with the radiography student to perform exams as well as performing individual image evaluation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Operate MRI equipment to take diagnostic images of specific body areas as ordered. Produce diagnostic images for interpretation by the radiologist.
  • Prepare and position or immobilize patients properly and provide clear and concise instructions regarding the procedure before beginning an exam. Ensure quality review of the images fall within the guidelines of departmental SOP (Standard operating protocol).
  • Practice safety protocols with regard to patient and employee safety when in range of magnetic field. Ensure MRI safety protocols are practiced.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • To qualify, you must have a Technical Diploma Graduate of AMA approved school of Radiology or Imaging Services.
  • New York State Radiologic Technologist License or New York State Radiologic Technologist Temp Permit.
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT)
  • Strong communication (both written and oral), problem-solving, and customer service skills. Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree In Radiology Program or related Health field.
  • 1 - 2 years MRI technologist or training experience.
  • Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

Salary Information:

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $112,758.65 - $124,556.45 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay, or other forms of compensation or benefits.
