Provides quality patient care when performing diagnostic imaging and related proceduresto demonstrate anatomy for interpretation and/or intervention while adhering to MRI safety principles. Responsibilities Essential Functions Perform MRI diagnostic imaging and related procedures to visualize anatomy and physiology for physician interpretation and interventional procedures. Exercise professional judgment while providing compassionate, high-quality patient care. Deliver safe, age-appropriate patient care while recognizing patient conditions and ensuring successful completion of imaging procedures. Comply with all applicable state, federal, and regulatory requirements for MRI practice. Support and uphold the organization's mission, vision, values, and strategic initiatives. Assess patients' physical condition and age-specific needs to ensure appropriate care. Provide clear patient instructions to promote cooperation and successful imaging outcomes. Verify patient identity, obtain and document accurate clinical history, and ensure all required information is complete. Position patients and imaging equipment while adjusting technical factors to produce high-quality diagnostic images. Evaluate images for technical quality, proper patient identification, accurate annotation, and complete anatomical visualization. Apply MRI safety principles to protect patients, staff, and visitors. Perform and participate in quality control procedures in accordance with departmental standards. Demonstrate proficiency in administering contrast media, including the use of power injectors when appropriate. Perform venipuncture and assess IV access for contrast administration as prescribed by a licensed provider. Respond appropriately to adverse contrast reactions and other medical emergencies, providing immediate patient care as needed. Follow infection prevention protocols, including standard precautions and appropriate use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Assist in the training, orientation, and supervision of student technologists and newly hired staff. Utilize radiology information systems, PACS, and other departmental technology accurately and efficiently. Maintain a safe environment for patients, visitors, and team members. Maintain reliable attendance in accordance with organizational policies and applicable federal, state, and local regulations. Adhere to all organizational policies, procedures, and compliance standards. Perform other duties as assigned. Additional Responsibilities Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked work environment. Ensure imaging equipment and work areas are properly maintained and ready for patient care. Assist with patient transportation as needed. Travel to and work at multiple facilities when required. Qualifications Education Candidates must meet one of the following educational requirements: Graduate of an accredited School of Radiologic Technology. Graduate of an accredited School of Diagnostic Medical Sonography. Graduate of an accredited School of Nuclear Medicine. Graduate of an approved MRI Technologist program through the American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT). Certifications & Licensure Candidates must possess one of the following credentials: American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification. American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) certification. Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) certification. ARRT (MRI) certification or ARMRIT certification. Additional requirements: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification. Florida Certified Radiologic Technologist (CRT) license preferred. Experience Required: Minimum of two (2) years of MRI technologist experience. Preferred experience in one or more of the following: Advanced MRI imaging, including: 3D Lab Interventional Radiology (IR) procedural imaging Breast MRI Cardiac MRI Experience serving as a site preceptor or proctor for onboarding and cross-training new technologists. Current proficiency in dual-modality imaging, with routine performance in a secondary imaging modality.
