Job Summary
Works under general supervision and following established procedures, the MRI Technologist safely operates the Magnetic Resonance Imaging scanner to acquire images for use by physicians in diagnoses and treatment of pathologies. Exercises independent judgment to modify scan techniques for optimal scan acquisition. Consults the appropriate content expert (Radiologist, Nurse, Supervisor, etc.) as necessary for each situation. Staff will be required to float among radiology clinics associated with BWH as needed. These sites are, but not limited to: 75 Francis Street Boston MA., 221 Longwood Ave Boston MA
Starting rate/base rate: $48.00/hr
Qualifications
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be a graduate of an approved school of Medical Imaging; and be registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or equivalent.
Be Registered or eligible for certification in MRI by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists or equivalent. Must meet, successfully complete, and maintain the ARRT or equivalent certification and registration within one year of start of employment.
2-3 years' experience as a Radiologic technologist preferred with at least one year in a specialty such as CT scan, or angiography.
COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:
Must have interpersonal skills sufficient to interact effectively with patients who may be under physical and/or emotional stress.
Must have analytical abilities necessary to acquire and effectively utilize knowledge of magnetic resonance imaging techniques, methods, and knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy.
Proficiency with Radiology and Hospital Information Systems (Percipio, IDXrad, LMR, BICS, PACS/Centricity, Safety Reporting, RMS Scanning, etc.) relating to patient information and management.
Awareness of hazards within the department, (Magnetic Field, standard precautions, etc.), and adhere to safety standards established by BWH and regulatory agencies.
