Job Summary and Qualifications

The MRI Technologist performs technical duties under the direction of the Imaging Supervisor/Manager, and/or Medical Director of Radiology and obtains quality diagnostic examinations while maintaining superior patient care and providing excellent customer service to patients, family, and all hospital staff. Works closely with Physicians and Radiologists to ensure the delivery of the diagnosis for the patients. 

What you will do in this role:

  • Demonstrates a high level of knowledge in cross sectional anatomy and some understanding of pathology.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in operation of MRI scanner, electronic imaging, reconstructions, MRI angiography, PACs, and image analysis.
  • Understands MRI protocol and sequence application, selection and/or modification in order to provide highest quality images.
  • Under direction of radiologists continuously keeps abreast of opportunities for improvements in imaging.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of positioning requirements, accurate scouts, and protocol modification by diagnosis
  • Works as part of Imaging Services with close interaction with physicians, demonstrating full understanding of clinical diagnosis as it pertains to images obtained.
  • Adheres to established protocols by Radiologists. MRI technologists must have ability to work with efficiency, initiative, and independence in the performance of procedures and decision making.
  • Must demonstrate findings accurately with all indicated views by protocol, etc.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in venipuncture and understands all aspects of medication safety.
  • May be required to assist radiologist in special procedures in MRI and will demonstrate understanding of modifications and protocols for these procedures.
  • Works under direction of radiologists and supervisor in order to produce images of highest diagnostic quality.
  • Able to work under pressure, coordinating and prioritizing workflow
  • Remains highly alert to patient safety in MRI, and all actions demonstrate conscious efforts to achieve this.
  • Understands importance of patient screening and all procedures to ensure no contradictions are present.
  • Demonstrates interest and pursues expanding expertise in profession keeping abreast of standards in the field of Magnetic Resonance Imaging.
  • All job duties are performed in a manner appropriate for the typical age range of patients care for the Medical Imaging Department, with is from 0-100 years of age.
  • All other duties as assigned in conjunction with providing excellent service to patients, families and hospital staff.

What qualifications you will need:
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • (ARRT-R) Radiography, or (ARMRIT) American Registry of MRI Technologists must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date
