Shift Options: Monday - Friday 7:00AM - 3:30PM or 4x10s 7:00AM - 5:30PM (TBD day off)

The practice of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is performed by radiologic technologists responsible for the use of radio frequencies (RF's) within a magnetic field on humans of all ages (newborn to geriatric) for diagnostic, therapeutic, or research purposes. An MRI technologist performs MRI procedures utilizing MRI scanners and power injectors producing cross-sectional and 3D images at the request of and for interpretation by a licensed independent practitioner.

Core Competencies

• Perform all the duties of an MRI Technologist II.
• Capable of being a contributing member of quality improvement initiatives as assigned.
• Expected to lead daily department huddles as assigned.
• Demonstrates the ability to assist with examination protocol and policy review/revisions.
• Expected to perform basic lead technologists functions such as coordinating work assignments, workflow, and staffing for an assigned shift/area; serve as a clinical or technical resource; provide training.
• Capable of performing the Dosimeter Badge coordinator duties. (Where applicable)
• Capable of Initiating service calls and following up until issues are resolved.
• Demonstrates the ability to participate in EOC rounding and TJC tracers alongside department leadership.
• Capable of acting as a safety coach duty as they may be asked to serve on the committee.
• Demonstrates the ability to develop and mentor other learners.
• Expected to show initiative and contribute to successful modality operations.
• Capable of recognizing excellence in coworker performance and does not participate in disruptive behavior.
• Demonstrates the ability to initiate process improvement discussions with senior leaders.
• Expected to anticipate the needs of patients and coworkers and works to proactively remove barriers to exceptional customer service and/or teamwork.

Advanced Competencies

• Capable of inventorying, ordering, and tracking unit supplies.
• Expected to perform complex procedures as applicable to your primary area. This may include but is not limited to:
• Elastography
• Runoff of lower extremities
• Brain Spectroscopy
• Defecography
• Whole Body
• Breast
• Cardiac
• Capable of identifying and sending images to the Radiologists suitable for ACR submission.
• Capable of completing Pacemaker and device workup.
• Expected to perform the monthly MRI scanner Quality Assurance testing.

Knowledge and Competency

• Highly experienced.
• Proficient in modality advanced competencies.
• Thorough knowledge of technical standards, the scope of practice, department and health system policies, safety and service standards.
• Participates in the development of modality policy, procedures, and workflows.
• Thorough understanding of imaging equipment, image processing software, instrumentation, and ancillary patient care equipment.

Education, Certification & Experience

• The position requires Certification by the American Registry of Radiology Technologists (ARRT) or Certification by the Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certification Board (NMTCB).
• ARRT-MRI, BLS, and a bachelor's degree with a minimum of 4 years of experience. (Individuals with at least 6 years of experience can use this in lieu of the education requirement. Team members who reached Clin III status prior to 7.1.2023 are exempt from this educational requirement.)
