Job Description

Job Summary:The MRI Technologist is responsible for performing magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) procedures following physician instructions and established protocols. This position plays a key role in patient care by explaining MRI procedures, selecting software and imaging parameters, operating MRI equipment, and maintaining accurate imaging records. The technologist must demonstrate the ability to deliver safe, high-quality imaging services while ensuring patient comfort and safety.Essential Job Functions:Patient Interaction & Communication:Demonstrates commitment to the Community Cares Program and adheres to the Standards of Behavior, including use of AIDET communication techniques.Explains procedures clearly to patients and addresses their concerns with empathy and professionalism.MRI Scan Procedures:Performs diagnostic MRI scans per physician orders and department guidelines.Demonstrates knowledge of MRI physics, positioning, and equipment operation.Administers MRI contrast agents when indicated.Recognizes and responds to changes in patient condition.Coordinates patient transportation and maintains communication with radiologists and front office staff.Regulatory Compliance & Professional Development:Complies with all hospital, departmental, and regulatory policies.Participates in continuing education, department meetings, and annual competencies.Assists the director with educational sessions and marketing initiatives.Record Maintenance:Maintains complete and accurate MRI records, including scan sequences, sedation logs, and service documentation.Equipment Maintenance & Quality Control:Performs quality control and assurance testing on MRI equipment.Reports issues promptly and assists in troubleshooting.Maintains a clean, safe, and hazard-free working environment.Department Organization:Keeps MRI rooms clean and organized.Stocks and orders supplies as needed.Cleans scanner and ensures daily disposal of soiled linen.Other Duties:Performs all tasks safely and in accordance with policy.Demonstrates flexibility and adaptability to change.Maintains confidentiality at all times. Qualifications:Education:Graduate of an AMA-approved School of Radiologic Technology.Licensure/Certifications:Eligible for registration with ARRT (MRI) or ARMRIT.Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.Skills:Strong patient care and communication skills.Working knowledge of MRI procedures and equipment.
