Basic Job Functions:

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

First Shift - Must be able to operate effectively with others in a three-shift environment.

  • Provide leadership in plant safety and operations on a day-to-day basis.
  • Effectively lead the metal recovery team.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with customers.
  • Establish production work schedules.
  • Provide leadership in people development activities such as hiring, training, developing and coaching staff.
  • Serve as a role model; support and ensure compliance with all safety and environmental policies and practices.
  • Support manager in long-range planning and budgeting.
  • Work closely with commercial team to keep them informed when nonferrous commodities need to be sold.
  • Conduct monthly inventory.
  • Hands on leadership approach in working with teammates.
  • Supervise the operation of mobile and production equipment.
  • Conduct operational trouble shooting activities and minor repairs as needed.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Bachelor's degree in business, management, engineering or related field or a minimum of 3 years management experience in heavy industrial or manufacturing
  • environment

  • Experience in scrap processing
