Summary

Onalaska Middle School is seeking a passionate and dedicated individual to join our athletics program as an Assistant Volleyball Coach for the upcoming season. The ideal candidate will support the head coach in developing the skills and abilities of student-athletes, promoting teamwork, sportsmanship, and a love for the game. This is a seasonal position that offers a unique opportunity to inspire young athletes and contribute to their growth both on and off the court.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the head coach in planning and conducting daily practices, drills, and training sessions to enhance player skills and team performance.
  • Help develop game strategies and provide in-game coaching and support during competitions.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive team environment that encourages personal and athletic development.
  • Monitor and assess the progress of student-athletes, providing constructive feedback and support.
  • Collaborate with the head coach to communicate effectively with players, parents, and school administration regarding team expectations and schedules.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all athletes during practices and competitions, adhering to school and district policies.
  • Assist in organizing team events, including fundraising, community service, and team bonding activities.
  • Attend all team meetings, practices, and games as required, demonstrating commitment and reliability.
  • Promote good sportsmanship and uphold the values of the school and athletic program.

Requirements

  • Previous coaching experience in volleyball, preferably at the middle school or high school level.
  • Strong knowledge of volleyball techniques, strategies, and rules of the game.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire young athletes.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with the head coach, players, and parents to create a positive team culture.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain prior to the season).
  • A commitment to the development of student-athletes in both athletics and academics.
  • Must pass a background check in accordance with school district policies.
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends during the volleyball season.
