Boat Interior Design Engineer - FL - 0104

Full Job Description

Our client at Florida works as part of a cross-functional development team to create interior designs of Industry leading boat components and systems. Drives design development activities from concept to production to meet customer needs and drive innovations aligned with company Core Values & Objectives. Completes Engineering analysis to drive design improvements that meet requirements for performance, quality, product cost, and the project schedule.Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Creates product designs aligned with engineering principles, company and industry manufacturing processes, government regulations, and customer requirements.
  • Utilizes root cause problem solving to drive design related product improvements to meet customer needs, improve component performance and styling, and resolve purchasing and manufacturing issues with emphasis on quality, reliability, timely delivery, and cost.
  • Completes Engineering analysis, electronic models, and statistical analysis to predict the success of component and system designs prior to physical prototypes
  • Generates CAD models, layouts, detail drawings, and tolerance analysis required to produce robust design solutions, and supervises their release through the release cycle.
  • Establishes a reasonable project development schedule from concept to production implementation and manages timely completion of tasks to meet overall business objectives.
  • Determines ideal component manufacturing route to ensure overall design, performance, and cost.
  • Creates component or system design requirements and specifications.
  • Prepares new concept designs/sketches and evaluates new technologies to drive innovation and competitive advantage.
  • Executes research and development activities to drive the technical evolution of component and system designs including: creating design reviews to gain cross-functional partner input, planning and executing prototype builds, driving system verification and validation testing, executing certification activities, and driving design improvements/revisions based on learnings.
  • Analyzes field problems and warranty data to drive corrective actions.
  • Performs other miscellaneous project related assignments.

. Requirements:

Skills & Knowledge

  • Required-B.S. in Mechanical Engineering
  • 2-4 years related design experience
  • Experience with a 3-D CAD modeling package such as Solidworks
  • Creation of original system requirements and specifications
  • Strong analytical skills to model and predict system performance based on engineering principles:
  • FEA and application of FEA in design, CFD experience desired
  • Application of free body diagrams and hand calculations of statics and dynamics
  • GD&T and dimensional tolerance stack-ups
  • Failure Modes & Effects Analysis (FMEA)
  • Fiberglass, plastic injection mold, blow mold, thermos-form and rotational mold design experience preferred.
  • Six Sigma, statistical analysis, and data based decision making
  • Superior technical knowledge as demonstrated by academic experience and broad practical experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Quick learner with high level of ambition and resolve, self-starter able to manage complexity and ambiguous design paths, creative problem solver that can drive innovative solutions
  • High level of people skills, able to work in a team environment.
  • Microsoft software including Excel, Project, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint
