Summary
The Onalaska Middle School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to lead our volleyball program as the Head Volleyball Coach for the upcoming season. This seasonal position is responsible for developing athletes' skills, fostering teamwork, and promoting a positive and competitive environment. The coach will work closely with student-athletes, parents, and school administration to ensure a successful and enriching volleyball experience for all participants.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive training program that focuses on skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
- Organize and conduct daily practices, ensuring a safe and effective training environment.
- Plan and manage the volleyball schedule, including practices, games, and team meetings.
- Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, and school staff regarding team expectations, schedules, and updates.
- Monitor and assess the performance and progress of student-athletes, providing constructive feedback and support.
- Promote a culture of respect, discipline, and sportsmanship among team members.
- Collaborate with other coaches and school staff to coordinate events and activities related to the volleyball program.
- Ensure compliance with all school policies, league rules, and safety regulations.
- Foster a positive relationship with the community and encourage community involvement in supporting the volleyball program.
- Attend coaches' meetings and professional development opportunities as required.
Requirements
- Previous coaching experience at the middle school or high school level, preferably in volleyball.
- Strong knowledge of volleyball techniques, strategies, and rules.
- Ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes to achieve their personal and team goals.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with athletes, parents, and staff.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
- A commitment to the academic and personal development of student-athletes.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required for practices and games.
- A positive attitude and a passion for coaching and mentoring young athletes.
