Job Summary:
Were seeking passionate and dynamic Middle School/High School Elective Teachers to join our team. Our ideal candidates are individuals who bring expertise in their content area and a strong commitment to engaging students through creative, hands-on, and student-centered learning experiences.
In this role, you will teach elective courses such as Art, Physical Education, Band, Dance, Theatre, or Technology, depending on your background and qualifications. You will design and deliver engaging instruction that promotes creativity, collaboration, and skill development while helping students explore their interests and talents. A strong working knowledge of the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) for your specific elective area is essential to ensure instruction aligns with state standards and student learning goals. You will also contribute to building a vibrant school culture through performances, showcases, competitions, and other student-centered events.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver engaging, standards-aligned lessons in your elective content area.
- Develop and implement a curriculum aligned with TEKS and campus expectations.
- Create a positive, inclusive classroom environment that encourages creativity, collaboration, and self-expression.
- Incorporate hands-on, project-based, and technology-integrated learning experiences when appropriate.
- Assess and monitor student progress, providing timely and meaningful feedback.
- Organize and support student performances, showcases, competitions, or events related to the elective subject.
- Collaborate with teachers, staff, and administrators to support student success and interdisciplinary learning opportunities.
- Supervise students during extracurricular activities, rehearsals, practices, or events as needed.
- Maintain classroom materials, equipment, and resources, ensuring safe and responsible use.
- Communicate regularly with students, parents, and colleagues to support student growth and engagement.
- Participate in campus events, professional development, and school-wide initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Education, Fine Arts, Physical Education, Performing Arts, Technology, or a related field.
- Experience teaching or working with middle or high school students in an elective area (e.g., Art, PE, Band, Dance, Theatre, or Technology).
- Strong knowledge of subject-specific instructional practices and curriculum development.
- Excellent classroom management, organization, and communication skills.
- Ability to create an engaging, structured, and student-centered learning environment.
- A genuine passion for inspiring students and fostering creativity and skill development.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Texas teaching certification in the relevant elective subject area (preferred but not required).
- Experience leading student performances, productions, exhibitions, or competitions.
- Experience coaching, directing, or leading extracurricular programs related to the elective subject.
- Experience integrating technology, project-based learning, or hands-on instruction into lessons.
Compensation:
- Starting competitive salary, commensurate with experience and education.
- Annual increases based on verified years of teaching service.
- Official service record must be provided upon hire to determine placement on the pay scale.
