The School District of Washburn is seeking a qualified and student-centered Physical Education and Health Teacher for grades 7-12 for the 2026-2027 school year. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to student learning, wellness, and the development of lifelong healthy habits. Candidates must hold or be eligible for Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) licensure in Physical Education and Health (Grades 7-12).
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Plan and deliver engaging, standards-based Physical Education and Health instruction for students in grades 7-12
Promote student wellness, physical fitness, teamwork, and responsible decision-making
Develop and implement lessons aligned with Wisconsin Academic Standards and district curriculum
Assess student learning and progress using a variety of formative and summative assessment methods
Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress, and grades in accordance with district and DPI requirements
Establish and maintain a safe, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment
Teach and reinforce appropriate safety procedures and proper use of equipment
Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of all students
Collaborate with colleagues, administration, and support staff to improve student outcomes
Communicate regularly and effectively with parents/guardians regarding student progress
Supervise students in classrooms, locker rooms, gymnasiums, and other assigned areas
Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and school improvement activities
Fulfill assigned supervisory duties and other responsibilities as assigned by administration
QUALIFICATIONS:
Valid Wisconsin DPI teaching license in Physical Education and Health (Grades 7-12), or eligibility to obtain licensure prior to the start date
Bachelor's degree in Physical Education, Health Education, or related field
Knowledge of Wisconsin Academic Standards for Physical Education and Health
Demonstrated ability to plan and deliver effective, standards-based instruction
Strong classroom management and organizational skills
Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and families
Commitment to equity, inclusion, and meeting the needs of all learners
Effective communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills
Willingness to participate in school and district initiatives and professional development
Coaching and/or extracurricular involvement preferred but not required
