AIS is seeking an experienced Microsoft Teams Rooms AV/VTC Solution
Engineer to support the end-to-end lifecycle of Microsoft Teams Rooms on Windows solutions across enterprise conference rooms and collaboration spaces. This role combines solution architecture, hands-on implementation, administration, maintenance, and troubleshooting responsibilities for room-based collaboration environments. This role requires traveling onsite to locations across eastern CT and RI up to 5 days per week during project rollout cycles. Onsite presence is also required outside of rollout cycles for routine collaboration with stakeholders, training, maintenance, and troubleshooting but will likely be 2-3 days per week. This individual will serve as the primary technical resource for Microsoft Teams Rooms design, implementation, and support, helping ensure conference room solutions are reliable, secure, scalable, supportable, and aligned to business, user experience, and operational requirements.
Assess business, functional, technical, and user experience requirements for Microsoft Teams Rooms deployments across huddle rooms, conference rooms, boardrooms, training rooms, executive rooms, divisible spaces, and specialty collaboration environments.
Develop and maintain room design standards, reference architectures, hardware footprints, bills of material, implementation guides, support documentation, and operational procedures for Microsoft Teams Rooms on Windows.
Administer and troubleshoot end-to-end Microsoft Teams Rooms solutions, including room compute, displays, cameras, microphones, speakers, DSPs, room controllers, switching, cabling, peripherals, and supporting infrastructure.
Configure and administer Microsoft Teams Rooms systems, including room accounts, Teams Rooms device settings, Microsoft 365 integration, Teams Admin Center configuration, Teams Rooms Pro management, monitoring, telemetry, and device lifecycle management.
Support implementation, installation coordination, testing, commissioning, cutover, acceptance, and turnover activities for Microsoft Teams Rooms deployments.
Review floor plans, room layouts, wiring schematics, signal flow diagrams, equipment layouts, and as-built documentation to validate that room designs are technically sound and operationally supportable.
Troubleshoot Microsoft Teams Rooms, AV, and VTC issues related to audio quality, video quality, camera framing, microphone coverage, speaker output, device connectivity, room control, network performance, authentication, service integration, and user experience.
Collaborate with AV engineering, network, identity, endpoint, security, facilities, workplace services, installation vendors, field technicians, and operations teams to ensure room solutions meet enterprise standards.
Define and execute validation, testing, commissioning, and acceptance procedures for deployed Microsoft Teams Rooms environments.
Support pilot deployments, proof-of-concept testing, prototype room builds, hardware evaluations, and technology refresh planning.
Provide technical guidance to stakeholders, installers, field technicians, and support teams on Microsoft Teams Rooms standards, implementation patterns, troubleshooting procedures, and operational best practices.
Maintain documentation and governance artifacts needed to support standardized deployment, controlled change, lifecycle management, and long-term operational stability.
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Engineering, Telecommunications, Audiovisual Systems, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
6+ years of experience in AV, VTC, unified communications, collaboration engineering, or related technical architecture roles.
3+ years of direct experience architecting and deploying Microsoft Teams Rooms solutions in enterprise environments.
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Teams Rooms on Windows architecture, configuration, deployment, administration, monitoring, and lifecycle management.
Ability to travel to sites across eastern CT and RI and work onsite up to 4 days per week.
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Teams, Microsoft 365 integration, room accounts, Teams Admin Center, device settings, and collaboration platform dependencies.
Solid understanding of AV system design, including room acoustics, microphone pickup, speaker coverage, DSP concepts, signal flow, switching, room control, displays, cameras, and user experience optimization.
Solid understanding of VTC concepts, including room-based conferencing, camera coverage, media quality, interoperability, conferencing workflows, and participant experience.
Hands-on experience selecting, integrating, configuring, and supporting AV/VTC hardware for a variety of room sizes and use cases.
Ability to interpret and contribute to floor plans, wiring schematics, logical diagrams, equipment layouts, signal flow diagrams, and as-built documentation.
Understanding of infrastructure dependencies such as structured cabling, PoE, network switching, QoS, firewall requirements, endpoint connectivity, identity, and device management.
Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills across hardware, software, network, identity, and cloud service layers.
Experience leading large-scale Microsoft Teams Rooms programs across multiple offices, campuses, or enterprise facilities.
Familiarity with Teams Rooms Pro Management, Teams Admin Center, device telemetry, monitoring, alerting, reporting, and operational governance.
Experience with AV/VTC vendors and ecosystems such as Logitech, Poly, Crestron, Extron, Shure, Biamp, Yealink, Neat, Cisco, or similar platforms.
Experience operating in highly regulated, secure, mission-critical, or government environments requiring strong documentation, standardization, change control, and operational discipline.
Understanding of facilities coordination, construction fit-out, low-voltage design, structured cabling, and installation vendor management.
Experience with lifecycle strategy, hardware refresh planning, operational handoff, and long-term support models for room-based collaboration technologies.
Microsoft, AVIXA CTS, CTS-D, CTS-I, or related AV/collaboration certifications are preferred.
