Position Overview
Aligned Technology Group is seeking an Overnight MSP Engineer to provide after-hours monitoring, troubleshooting, and operational support across our customers’ AWS environments. This role will be responsible for monitoring customer infrastructure and security alerts, managing support requests through Freshdesk, responding to Amazon GuardDuty findings, troubleshooting incidents, and escalating critical issues as needed.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on AWS engineer who can work independently during overnight hours while ensuring customer environments remain secure, available, and reliable.
Responsibilities
- Provide overnight monitoring and technical support across multiple customer AWS environments
- Monitor infrastructure health, availability, performance, and security alerts
- Investigate and respond to Amazon GuardDuty findings and other AWS security events
- Manage customer incidents and service requests through Freshdesk, including ticket triage, prioritization, documentation, resolution, and escalation
- Troubleshoot AWS infrastructure, networking, operating systems, performance, and application connectivity issues
- Support AWS services including EC2, RDS, S3, VPC, IAM, CloudWatch, Route 53, Elastic Load Balancing, and backup/recovery services
- Respond to production incidents according to established SLAs, severity levels, and escalation procedures
- Communicate with customers throughout active incidents and provide clear, timely status updates
- Perform routine operational activities including patching, backup validation, maintenance, monitoring, and infrastructure health checks
- Support disaster recovery, high availability, and business continuity processes
- Document incidents, troubleshooting steps, remediation actions, and environment changes
- Provide detailed handoffs to the daytime Managed Services team for unresolved tickets, active incidents, security findings, and required follow-up
- Identify recurring issues and opportunities to improve security, reliability, performance, and operational efficiency
- Collaborate with ATG Cloud Engineers, Architects, and Security resources to resolve escalated issues
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in Cloud Engineering, Managed Services, Cloud Operations, Systems Engineering, or a similar technical role
- Hands-on experience supporting production AWS environments
- Strong knowledge of AWS services including EC2, RDS, S3, VPC, IAM, CloudWatch, Route 53, and Elastic Load Balancing
- Experience with Amazon GuardDuty and investigating cloud security alerts or findings
- Strong understanding of AWS networking, security groups, routing, DNS, IAM, logging, and monitoring
- Experience with Freshdesk or similar ticketing/IT service management platforms
- Experience working with SLAs, incident prioritization, escalation procedures, and customer support workflows
- Experience supporting Linux and/or Windows server environments
- Knowledge of backup, disaster recovery, high availability, and infrastructure monitoring practices
- Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and customer communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple customer environments during overnight hours
- Experience in an MSP, NOC, SOC, or managed cloud services environment preferred
- AWS certification preferred
