Sussex County Community College is seeking a part-time student worker for the MTEC location.

This part-time MTEC Student Worker position plays a vital role in the success of SCCCs McGuire Technical Campus by providing direct support to staff in planning and preparing for the current and upcoming semesters. The position requires a commitment of 5-15 hours per week. The ideal candidate is hardworking, passionate about Technical Occupations Programs, and eager to learn more about technical careers and trade skills. Candidates should be team players who can also work independently when needed. Additionally, they must be willing to serve as an effective liaison between MTEC and other career-focused programs.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Must be dependable, able to take and follow directions, have stamina, and willing to work outdoors in all types of weather.
  • Assist MTEC staff with the creation and implementation of all Technical Program Labs.
  • Take the lead in maintaining and inventorying MTEC shop spaces and equipment.
  • Work in direct support of MTEC staff to prepare for current and future semesters and other program-related events. Including but not limited to cleaning, painting, and relocating equipment and resources.
  • Support the Dean of Technical Occupations in events, volunteer days, and classes to take place at McGuire Technical Center.
  • Based on divisional needs, have flexibility in working to support additional program needs, such as the SCCC Farm.
  • Must be able to meet deliveries at times.
  • Team player yet must also work independently.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience:

  • Currently enrolled in Sussex County Community Colleges Technical Programs, preferably Automotive or Welding.

Qualifications:

  • Able to lift 40 or more pounds.
  • Willing to work outside in all types of weather.
  • Positive attitude and willing to learn.
