Be the expert behind precision parts

TekPro is partnering with a high‑tech precision machining manufacturer in the San Jose area to hire a seasoned CNC professional who thrives on complex work and tight tolerances. You’ll set up and run multi‑axis equipment, verify quality, and collaborate with engineering to keep parts flowing to aerospace, defense, medical, and semiconductor customers.

A day in the life

You arrive to a high‑mix cell, load a 5‑axis program, dial in offsets, and run a first article. With micrometers and a CMM, you confirm every critical feature. Mid‑run, you catch early signs of tool wear, adjust parameters, and keep the job on spec. Before handoff, you document setup notes so the next run is even faster.

What you’ll handle

  • Set up and operate 3‑ to 5‑axis CNC mills and multi‑axis lathes to produce precision components.
  • Interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, CAD models, and apply GD&T throughout the process.
  • Install and secure tooling, fixtures, and workholding for efficient, repeatable setups.
  • Load, verify, edit CNC programs; set and adjust work/ tool offsets as needed.
  • Optimize speeds/feeds, toolpaths, and cutting conditions for varied materials.
  • Perform first‑article and in‑process inspections using CMMs, micrometers, calipers, height and bore gauges, and related metrology tools.
  • Monitor production runs; troubleshoot dimensional deviations, chatter, and tool wear to maintain quality.
  • Complete setup sheets, inspection records, and production logs.
  • Partner with engineering/programming to improve cycle times and quality; mentor fellow operators when needed.

What you bring

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 3+ years of CNC milling or turning experience in a precision environment.
  • Solid understanding of multi‑axis machining principles and workholding.
  • Comfortable reading complex prints and applying GD&T.
  • Fluent with precision measurement and inspection practices.
  • Experience with Fanuc, Haas, Siemens, or similar CNC controls preferred.
  • Resourceful problem solver with strong troubleshooting skills.
  • Able to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs.

Technical fluency

  • GD&T
  • Troubleshooting complex machining issues
  • G‑code comprehension
  • CNC setup and changeover
  • Repeatable setups for production runs

Equipment you’ll touch

  • CNC Mill (3–4 axis VMC) — Doosan
  • CNC Lathe (2–4 axis) — Doosan
  • CNC Mill (5+ axis VMC) — DMG Mori Seiki
  • CNC Lathe (5+ axis) — Doosan

Why this role stands out

  • High‑mix, high‑precision parts across aerospace, defense, medical, and semiconductor programs.
  • Robust overtime availability at 1.5x for those who want extra earnings.
  • Multiple permanent openings across first and second shift.
