Step Into Precision: A Day in This Role
You arrive to a clear set of prints and specs. You translate them into motion—setting up lathes, mills, and grinders, dialing in workholding, and refining toolpaths. You verify every step, edit G & M code when needed, and keep machines running smoothly from first article through production runs. You own quality to the last thousandth and leave the equipment ready for the next job.
What You’ll Do
- Complete CNC changeovers and setups quickly and accurately, optimizing for safe and efficient throughput.
- Partner with engineering and the CAM team to create, refine, and improve CNC programs to meet print and process requirements.
- Design and assist in building fixtures and other workholding for parts of varying complexity.
- Recommend tooling, programming, and process advancements to supervisors and programmers to boost productivity.
- Run production on CNC lathes, mills, and grinders to produce precision metal components to engineering drawings.
- Apply and uphold our Quality Management System requirements throughout machining and inspection.
- Document machine performance and operational issues; communicate timely feedback to your supervisor.
- Collaborate effectively with peers, leads, and cross-functional staff to meet schedule and quality targets.
- Perform additional related tasks as assigned.
What You Bring
- High school diploma or GED (required); post‑secondary CNC training preferred.
- 5+ years hands-on CNC machining experience.
- Fluency with G & M code and confident, safe program edits at the control.
- Advanced print and blueprint interpretation skills.
Technical Strengths
- Proven 3‑ to 5‑axis machining experience.
- Expertise reading engineering drawings and translating to setup and process.
- Strong grasp of programming, setup, and operation of CNC equipment.
- Skilled with precision metrology (calipers, micrometers, gauges) for in‑process and final inspection.
- Resourceful troubleshooting of mechanical and technical issues.
- Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to top-tier quality.
