It’s Monday morning in Downers Grove. You load up a new aerospace component model, review GD&T, and map out a strategy for a tight-tolerance feature set. You choose cutters, dial in speeds and feeds, simulate, and push a first-pass program to the floor. A machinist flags a minute chatter signature; together, you tweak toolpath engagement and shave seconds off cycle time. By afternoon, the part measures spot-on, and you log a process improvement for the next run. If that sounds like a satisfying day, read on.

The Opportunity

TekPro has partnered with a premier precision manufacturer in the Downers Grove area to add an experienced CNC Programmer. This is a full-time, direct-hire role with a stable, well-established shop known for complex, high-quality aerospace-grade components.

What You’ll Do

  • Create, refine, and optimize CNC programs for milling and turning—spanning 3–5+ axis work.
  • Translate blueprints, CAD models, and GD&T into precise toolpaths.
  • Select tooling and define speeds/feeds and strategies that maximize quality and throughput.
  • Partner closely with machinists, engineers, and production to improve methods and setups.
  • Troubleshoot issues at the machine, iterating quickly to resolve problems.
  • Lead and support continuous improvement to reduce cycle times and boost repeatability.

What You Bring

  • 3+ years of CNC programming experience in a machining environment.
  • Deep knowledge of milling, turning, and multi-axis techniques.
  • Fluency in reading prints and GD&T and converting CAD into robust NC code.
  • Proficiency with CAM tools such as Mastercam, NX CAM, Fusion 360, and GibbsCAM (or similar).
  • Hands-on machining background strongly preferred.
  • Exceptional problem-solving ability and attention to detail.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: $90,000 – $115,000/year, commensurate with experience.
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage.
  • 401(k) with company match.
  • Paid time off and holidays.
  • Long-term, stable opportunity with growth potential.

Machines & Technologies

  • CNC Mill (3-4 axis VMC) (Fanuc, Haas, Okuma, Dmg Mori Seiki, Makino, Doosan)
  • CNC Lathe (2-4 axis) (Haas, Okuma, Doosan, Dmg Mori Seiki)
  • CAM Software (Mastercam, GibbsCAM, Siemens NX)
  • CNC Mill (5+ axis VMC) (Fanuc, Mazak, Haas, Okuma)
  • CNC Lathe (5+ axis) (Mazak, Okuma, Doosan, Dmg Mori Seiki)

If you thrive on challenging, tight-tolerance work and enjoy collaborating on the shop floor, this role offers the complexity and teamwork you’re looking for.
