Ready to turn complex models into flawless parts?

If you thrive on translating intricate CAD into efficient toolpaths and love collaborating across manufacturing, quality, and engineering, this role is for you. You’ll program multi-axis, multi-spindle, and Swiss CNC equipment for medical devices while elevating legacy programs and launching NPIs with confidence.

What you will tackle

  • Program CNC milling, turning, and grinding across multiple sites for implants, instruments, and complex medical components.
  • Analyze drawings and 3D models to determine dimensions, tool choices, speeds/feeds, and machine strategies that meet customer specs and shop standards.
  • Participate in process development and DFM with internal and external stakeholders to ensure manufacturability and scale.
  • Revise and debug programs to remove errors, incorporate new methods/technologies, and meet delivery commitments.
  • Coordinate with Quality Engineering to build Process Control Plans and Manufacturing Inspection Plans; define gaging and fixturing needs.
  • Set up machines for first articles and short-run NPI; step in for small production runs when needed.
  • Design fixtures for post-processing operations and streamline workflows.
  • Adhere to the TOMZ Quality Management System; continuously improve programming standards across sites.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Why this work matters

Your programming precision directly impacts device performance and patient outcomes. By standardizing best practices and introducing new tooling and process technologies, you’ll cut cycle times, strengthen repeatability, and raise quality across product lines.

Must-haves

  • Associate degree in a technical/scientific field or equivalent experience.
  • At least 5 years of CNC programming and machine set-up in medical device manufacturing (or similar precision environment).
  • Strong command of NC code, tooling, and manufacturing process fundamentals.
  • CAD/CAM proficiency (SolidWorks and Esprit preferred).
  • Blueprint reading and GD&T fluency.
  • Clear communicator with the ability to work across teams and with customers.
  • Analytical problem-solver with solid reasoning skills.

Physical realities

  • Able to bend, stoop, squat, kneel, and lift up to 50 lbs; use team lift/mechanical assist above 50 lbs.
  • Work around oils, grease, shop noise, cleaning solvents, dust, metal particles, sparks, coolant, and sharp edges; PPE and engineering controls may be required (safety glasses, dust masks, ear plugs, cut/chemical-resistant gloves).
  • Frequent computer and keyboard use.
