Multi-Cloud Engineer

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled professional well-versed in AWS cloud services to join our team. This role involves troubleshooting and resolving issues, enabling growth and continuous improvement, and strategically designing complex solutions. The position supports a secure, enterprise-scale environment with federally regulated compliance requirements. The role is hybrid, with 90% of the work being remote.

Responsibilities

• Operate effectively across multiple cloud environments—Azure, AWS, GCP—using well-architected frameworks to develop and implement reusable cloud patterns and solutions using Infrastructure as Code for self-service secure delivery.
• Continuously improve compliance and cyber posture through AWS Security Hub CSPM, Config/CloudTrail, GuardDuty, and integration with Azure Defender. Develop and mature guardrails and governance policies.
• Troubleshoot and resolve problems within AWS cloud environments. Document and communicate issues to the broader team as part of knowledge transfer and learning opportunities. Identify the right resources required for support and maintain fluid operations.
• Diagnose and address network connectivity issues, maintain and correct security groups, route tables, subnet and VPC allocations, VPNs, and peerings, while balancing reliability and costs.
• Effectively manage resource costs, budgets, anomalies, and reporting.
• Manage big data analytics platforms and workloads and intelligently manage data tiers.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in information systems or a relevant field and 4 years of practical experience in the field, or a Master’s degree and 2 years of practical experience. Additional years of experience will be accepted in lieu of a degree.
• Ability to obtain public trust clearance.
• Ability to self-manage work tasks using M365-based tools.
• Demonstrated and proven ability to independently resolve issues, improve day-to-day operations with self-driven initiatives, and operate with a growth mindset.
• Hands-on experience building and architecting multi-cloud networks with secure routing and firewalls.
• Understanding and practical exposure to regulatory controls, baselines, and security policies within AWS cloud environments (CIS benchmarks, STIG, etc.).
• Hands-on experience building solutions with CloudFormation, Terraform, or other tools.

Beneficial Qualifications

• Operational exposure and experience with GCP.
• Operational exposure and experience with containerization technologies and methodologies.

Location

The role is primarily remote but requires occasional presence at our facility in Gaithersburg, Maryland. Gaithersburg is a vibrant city known for its rich history, diverse community, and proximity to the nation's capital.
